Public Funding Manager
Grale develops next-generation sustainable alternatives designed to replace fossil-based plastics. As our Public Funding Manager, you will play a key role in securing public funding that supports Grale's R&D, product development, and scale-up initiatives.
Your mission is to own the execution of Grale's public funding pipeline: from identifying the right grant opportunities to leading high-quality applications and managing awarded funding throughout its lifecycle. You will work at the intersection of advanced R&D and commercial scalability, ensuring that technical initiatives are matched with relevant national and international funding programs.
Working closely with our founders, and technical teams, you will translate R&D and scale-up initiatives into competitive, well-structured grant applications while supporting Grale's long-term growth.
You will be the internal expert on public funding processes, requirements, and timelines - ensuring that Grale applies to the right programs, at the right time, with the right execution.
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identify, analyse, and apply for relevant public funding opportunities, including Swedish, EU and international grants, subsidies and innovation programs.
- Structure and scope complete grant applications based on Grale's R&D, product development and scale-up initiatives, in close collaboration with the CTO and technical team.
- Lead the full grant application process end-to-end: from application planning and documentation to writing, budgeting, submission and follow-up.
- Write clear, compelling applications in collaboration with technical experts, articulating technical development, innovation, TRL progression, impact, and commercial relevance.
- Act as the main point of contact towards funding bodies and public authorities throughout the application and post-award process.
- Build and coordinate consortia for larger national, EU or international grants by engaging relevant research institutions, industry partners, and public actors when required.
- Manage the full grant lifecycle post-award, contributing to project setup including reporting, documentation, audits, milestone tracking and communication with funding bodies.
- Continuously improve Grale's internal grant processes, templates, documentation and success rate.
- Proven experience working hands-on with documented track record in public funding, research grants, or large innovation programs (EU, national or international).
- Demonstrated experience writing and submitting successful grant applications.
- Strong understanding of funding bodies' requirements, evaluation criteria, compliance rules, and reporting processes.
- Solid financial understanding, with the ability to contribute to budgets, cost structures, and resource planning within grant applications.
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate complex technical, scientific and commercial content.
- Exceptional writing skills in English (Swedish is very meritorious)
- Experience with consortium-based funding programs (EU or international) is highly meritorious.
- Are comfortable working closely with technical teams and founders, translating defined initiatives into funded projects.
- Are highly structured, detail-oriented, and confident owning complex processes end-to-end.
