About this opportunity
Accurate antenna measurements at upper 5G frequency bands require a carefully controlled electromagnetic environment. In this Master's thesis, you will investigate how antenna holders, robotic positioning systems, and nearby mechanical structures influence antenna measurements in an anechoic chamber.
The project combines material characterization, full-wave electromagnetic simulations, laboratory measurements, and experimental validation. You will identify the main sources of measurement disturbance, assess their contribution to measurement uncertainty, and develop practical recommendations for reducing their impact.

What you will do
- Characterize selected 3D-printed materials, including relative permittivity and dielectric loss tangent.
- Develop and validate simulation models of antenna holders and surrounding mechanical structures.
- Perform controlled measurements using progressively more complex configurations.
- Investigate the effects of materials, geometry, distances, metallic components, cables, motors, chamber walls, and RF absorbers.
- Quantify effects on radiation patterns, amplitude, phase, gain, cross-polarization, and repeatability.
- Identify dominant disturbance sources and evaluate practical mitigation strategies.
The skills you bring
- You are pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
- You have an interest in electromagnetics, antenna technology, RF engineering, or electromagnetic measurements.
- You have a basic understanding of electromagnetic theory and antenna characteristics.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools, programming, RF measurements, material characterization, or uncertainty analysis is an advantage.
- You are analytical, structured, curious, and comfortable working independently in a laboratory environment.
- You have good communication skills and can present technical results in English.
