Scania GroupRekommenderat
Sammanfattning
This master thesis opportunity focuses on developing and evaluating acoustic source models for engine exhaust and intake systems using GT-POWER simulations combined with measured acoustic data. The work will be conducted on-site in Södertälje, Sweden, and is expected to last 20-25 weeks starting January 2027. The student will adapt existing methods for the intake system and assess the accuracy of the models against measured data under various operating conditions.Jobbet i korthet

Beskrivning
30 hp - Exhaust and intake acoustic source characterization under motoring and full load conditions using GT-POWER
Introduction
This master thesis develops and evaluates acoustic source model for an engine's exhaust and intake systems by combining GT-POWER simulation with measured acoustic data.
Background
An established method calculates exhaust acoustic source characteristics. The next step is to adapt it for the intake system and evaluate both models under motoring and full load conditions using acoustic data measured at the exhaust outlet and intake opening.
Objective
The objective is to adapt the established exhaust acoustic source calculation method for the intake system of one engine and assess how accurately the resulting exhaust and intake models predict measured acoustic behavior.
Job description
The thesis student will review the existing method, available models, measurements, operating range, parameters and validation metrics. After establishing reference motoring and full load cases and an exhaust baseline, the method will be adapted for the intake system and applied across the selected speed range. Predictions will be compared with measurements by engine order and defined error measures. A focused sensitivity study will assess selected model parameters, accuracy and limitations.
Education program and focus
Master's in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, engineering physics, acoustics or a related field. Experience with engine simulation, signal analysis or GT-POWER is beneficial.
