Senior Observability Platform Engineer

Nordic Investin is recruiting a Senior Observability Platform Engineer on behalf of one of our partner companies. You want logs, metrics and traces to answer engineering questions instead of creating another noisy system to maintain.

The partner is building a shared observability capability for workloads across established and new developer platforms. You will design, implement and operate the stack while helping teams adopt useful standards.

The platform is treated as a service used by engineers and business teams. Success will be measured through safer change, lower operational friction and clearer ownership rather than the number of tools introduced.

How you will work

The work combines planned platform development with investigation of real production behaviour. You will collaborate with application teams, security and operations, using their feedback to decide what should become a shared service, an automated control or clear documentation. Ownership continues after the first release.

As a senior colleague, you will own substantial outcomes and help others make stronger decisions. You are expected to recognise risk early, communicate it without drama and move work forward with practical alternatives. The role still includes hands on delivery; seniority here means broader judgement, not distance from the work.

What you will do

Build and operate scalable telemetry collection and storage.

Develop OpenTelemetry patterns for applications and infrastructure.

Design dashboards, alerting and service health views.

Improve cost, retention and cardinality controls.

Create self service integrations and practical documentation.

Advocate for observability through pairing, examples and incident learning.

What you will bring

Strong hands on platform or SRE experience.

Production knowledge of metrics, logs and distributed tracing.

Experience with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Elastic or Datadog.

Kubernetes and cloud platform knowledge.

Software development or advanced automation ability.

Confidence working as both builder and developer advocate.

Experience that would add value

Large multi tenant observability platforms.

OpenTelemetry collector development.

Experience migrating between monitoring stacks.

A background that can succeed here

Your background may span SRE, backend engineering, cloud platforms or operations. You understand that observability is a data and product problem as much as a tooling problem.
