DBtune's core technology is a fully automated service designed to optimize databases. Our optimizer, based on machine learning, tailors each optimization to the specific customer workload and hardware in use. This approach leads to improved key performance indicators, making the process of database tuning more efficient and scalable across hundreds of instances. By utilizing DBtune, users enhance their databases' performance while significantly reducing cloud costs and environmental impact.

We have garnered support from institutional and angel investors in the EU and the US, along with pre-seed funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW). With a growing customer base, DBtune is poised to expand its influence even further, scaling our operations to bring AI-driven database optimization to a broader audience.

Job Overview
DBtune is seeking an accomplished software engineer with a strong background in building user interfaces that solve complex problems. As a Senior Frontend Engineer at DBtune, you will be building the face of our database optimization solution. Your expertise will let users experience a cutting-edge platform, giving our growing customer base access to insights in a way that feels good. You will report to the Director of Product Development.

DBtune encourages employees to attend and represent DBtune at prominent database conferences, sharing expertise and insights on performance engineering and AI-driven database optimization solutions. This role provides a unique platform to contribute to our ongoing mission of revolutionizing cloud and database systems.

What will you be doing?
Day-to-day you will:

• Give customers tools to improve the way they manage database performance. Our customers' primary view into DBtune's capabilities is through our React frontend, written in Typescript. Building and maintaining this will form the key part of your work. Sometimes problems that surface in the frontend require solving in the backend so you might need to reach over the API boundary.
• Work on solving deeply technical problems. The domain of database performance is complex and hard: this is why we exist! To make sure we build solutions that work you will collaborate with our domain experts to dive into the details of what we do and why. And data-driven solutions need data; fetching, synchronizing and visualizing complex, connected data can lead to interesting issues that need inventive solutions.
• Help the rest of the team deliver. In a small team, people need to work together and build tools that improve how we can work. For you that could be: keeping our Design System up-to-date with the latest components, helping our other engineers avoid troublesome re-renders, or expanding our vitest and Playwright test suites to be as comprehensive as possible.

Location

This role is based in the Malmö office and will involve working with team members based in Colombia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
