At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.
The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a researcher position at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.
Duties
The position is linked to research projects in obesity, metabolism and physiological regulation of body weight at the Department of Physiology.
The successful candidate will primarily work with the analysis and scientific processing of previously collected research data from clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating weight-bearing load, body weight regulation, obesity and cardiometabolic health. Responsibilities include statistical analyses, interpretation of results and integration of data from multiple assessment modalities, including body composition measurements, medical imaging, heart rate variability (HRV), circulating biomarkers and clinical outcome measures.
The position also includes preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed journals, literature reviews, scientific reporting and presentation of research findings at national and international scientific meetings. The researcher is expected to contribute actively to the dissemination and publication of results generated within the research projects.
Additional duties may include participation in the planning of future research projects, preparation of research grant applications and support of ongoing research activities within the group. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with researchers at the University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska University Hospital and national and international collaborators in physiology, obesity and metabolism research.
Qualifications
A PhD degree in physiology, medicine, or a closely related subject area is required. Applicants must have documented experience of independent research within physiology, metabolism, obesity research, or a related field. Experience in statistical analysis and scientific processing of human physiological data is required.
Applicants must have documented experience in conducting, coordinating and analysing clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs), as well as a demonstrated publication record in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Proven ability to independently prepare scientific manuscripts in English is required.
The following qualifications are considered meritorious:
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary research teams, and demonstrate the ability to take research projects from data analysis to scientific publication. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are required.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 7 months, 25% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date: as soon as possible or as agreed.
