Program Director

We are seeking an experienced Program Director to lead and coordinate complex data migration projects involving multiple systems, stakeholders, and business units. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end migration lifecycle-from planning and strategy to execution, validation, and post-migration support. This role demands strong project governance, cross-functional leadership, risk management, and a deep understanding of data-related processes

About the Team / Business Unit
Cognizant collaborates with all major hyperscale's and relevant software vendors in the data and AI space. This includes partnerships with industry leaders such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, Snowflake, and Databricks. Our comprehensive approach ensures that we leverage the best tools and technologies to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. Additionally, we are supported locally by our dedicated Centers of Excellence, which operate both nearshore and offshore. These centers provide specialized expertise and resources, ensuring that we can meet the unique needs of our clients and drive innovation in AI and data cost effectively.

About You:
Program Director oversee project execution, ensuring that objectives align with organizational goals while effectively managing resources and risks. Highlighting your experience in cross-functional team leadership, successful project outcomes, and stakeholder communication will significantly strengthen your resume. Incorporate skills such as strategic planning, problem-solving, and proficiency in project management tools to demonstrate your expertise. Emphasizing your ability to drive efficiency and deliver projects on time and within budget will clearly illustrate the impact you bring to an organization.

Your Key Result Areas:

• Define and oversee the strategic direction of data programs aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead cross-functional teams including data engineers, analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders.
• Establish data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
• Manage program budgets, timelines, and resources across multiple data initiatives.
• Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making across departments and leadership.
• Oversee the development and implementation of data platforms, pipelines, and analytics tools.
• Ensure alignment between data architecture and business needs, including scalability and performance.
• Monitor program performance using KPIs and adjust strategies as needed.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in data practices and technologies.
• Engage with executive leadership to communicate progress, risks, and opportunities.
• Mentor and develop data leadership talent within the organization.
• Evaluate and manage vendor relationships for data tools, platforms, and services.

Required & nice to have Skills:

Must Have:

• Understanding of data architecture and infrastructure - including data lakes, warehouses, and cloud-based platforms.
• Familiarity with data engineering tools and frameworks
• Knowledge of data analytics and BI tools - like Power BI,Qlik
• Experience with Azure
• Proficiency in data governance and compliance standards
• Understanding of machine learning and AI concepts
• Familiarity with programming and scripting languages - such as SQL, Python, or R (for oversight and communication with technical teams).
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices - especially as they relate to data pipelines and model deployment.
• Experience with metadata management and data catalog tools - like Collibra, Alation, or Informatica.
• Ability to evaluate and select data tools and platforms - based on scalability, cost, and business needs.
• Understanding of API integration and data interoperability - for connecting systems and enabling data flow.

Nice to Have/ Your chance to grow

1. Experience with cloud platforms and cloud data migration.
2. Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) in relation to data handling.
3. Experience in sectors like finance, healthcare, or manufacturing is a plus.
