We operate in a fast-changing regulatory environment and translate complex trade compliance requirements into clear, practical and risk-based guidance for the business.

About the role

This is a global corporate risk lead role within Compliance & Ethics, responsible for defining and maintaining Volvo Cars' corporate Trade Compliance requirements, with a primary focus on trade sanctions and export controls. The role is based at Volvo Cars headquarters in Gothenburg.

In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert for Trade Compliance. You will set the substantive direction for the risk area, promote consistent application of corporate requirements across regions and functions, and support the business in navigating complex regulatory requirements and important business decisions.

You will play a central role in shaping how Volvo Cars identifies, governs and manages Trade Compliance risks globally, ensuring that regulatory developments, enforcement trends and business priorities are translated into practical requirements, risk-area methodology, guidance, controls, training and management reporting.

What you'll do

You will work closely with business and functional stakeholders, regional Compliance & Ethics colleagues and other colleagues working with Trade Compliance globally to drive alignment and ensure that requirements are understood, embedded and applied consistently across regions. The role also requires close coordination with adjacent compliance areas such as anti-corruption, human rights, competition law and broader third-party risk management where risk topics overlap.

Your responsibilities will include:

Act as the Global Corporate Risk Lead for Trade Compliance and a key Compliance & Ethics contact for trade sanctions and export controls, in close collaboration with other Trade Compliance colleagues globally.

Define, maintain and continuously improve Volvo Cars' corporate Trade Compliance framework, requirements, methodology, guidance and tools.

Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement trends and industry practice, and translate them into practical business requirements and guidance.

Set risk-area priorities and substantive direction, and provide input to Compliance & Ethics planning, reporting and continuous improvement.

Provide expert advice and specialist compliance input to business functions and leadership.

Lead or support risk assessments, controls, mitigation plans, incidents, investigations and complex compliance matters with Trade Compliance expertise.

Lead coordination and alignment across global Trade Compliance colleagues, regional Compliance & Ethics teams and relevant business functions.

Provide subject-matter input to authority interactions, industry forums, regulatory consultations and external engagements in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience handling complex, cross-border trade compliance matters involving multiple jurisdictions.

Proven ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, business-oriented guidance.

Experience defining or applying compliance requirements, risk methodology, governance, and controls in a corporate environment.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in a multinational organization with complex products, technologies, supply chains and market-access considerations.

Experience using digital tools, analytics or AI-enabled solutions to support compliance risk management or process improvement.

You bring an analytical, risk-based mindset and are comfortable navigating complex and evolving regulatory environments.

You are a strong communicator and trusted partner, able to influence senior stakeholders and build trust across business, regional and functional teams.

You are comfortable taking ownership, setting direction and managing competing priorities in a global, fast-paced environment.

We offer: Why join us?

This role offers high visibility and the opportunity to shape Volvo Cars´global Trade Compliance agenda, influencing how export controls and trade sanctions are integrated into our products, technologies, supply chains and global operations.
