Do you want to be part of a team of Materials and Process experts developing advanced manufacturing technologies for the aerospace industry?
We are looking for a Process Engineer with expertise in metallurgy and aerospace materials, combined with interest in developing and optimizing casting processes.

Opportunities

First, you will be involved in technology maturation projects. You will contribute to technology development plans, drive and perform activities together with cross-sites R&T teams, report progress, and present status updates according to agreed schedule. Typical activities focus on developing and improving GKN's casting capability both from design and production perspectives. Examples of technical areas include the development of process materials and new alloys for casting applications for the next generation of aircraft engines.

In the long term, you will also have the opportunity to work on demonstrator projects and within product development teams, where you will be able to influence product design in the early phases to ensure castability, cost efficiency and process robustness.

Key Responsibilities

You will have technical responsibility and provide specialist expertise in materials and processes within Technology teams.

You will be responsible for driving technology maturation related to casting process, including repair and rework methods. In your daily work, you will support data collection, perform in-depth data analysis, and contribute to technical reports and presentations in accordance with project timelines.

Your responsibility within product development teams will be to drive Design-for-Manufacturing (DfM) for the investment casting process, from concepts to final designs. You will provide specialist knowledge in internal activities as well as in communications with suppliers to define the casting manufacturing route, verification and qualification activities. You will also review casting simulations to optimize both component designs and manufacturing process steps.

Qualifications and personal skill

Required Qualifications:
• MSc degree in materials or manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to write technical documents. Proficiency in Swedish is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with aerospace materials such as titanium alloys, nickel-based alloys and ceramic process materials
• Industrial or academic experience within manufacturing processes: investment casting process and back-end processes including welding and inspection methods are preferred.
• Experience of process control and quality work
• Interest in simulation of manufacturing processes
• Interest in digitalization and automation of manufacturing processes

We expect Curiosity (think beyond rules and procedures safely), Innovation (Entrepreneur spirit and flexible approach to solve challenges) and Ownership (taking responsibility within the team).
