Information about the division/project
The Interaction Design unit is an interdisciplinary group at Computer Science and Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology and Gothenburg University. Researchers at the division conduct research in the areas of computer game design, aesthetics ofcomputational technology, information visualization, musical interaction, intelligent user interfaces, and tangible user interfaces. It isresponsible for approximately 20 courses - mainly at the master's level - and is responsible for two master's programmes: InteractionDesign & Technologies at Chalmers and Game Design & Technology at Gothenburg University.
Job Description
As Studio Manager you are responsible for the practical daily operations of the IxD Studio (SB3) that the Unit of Interaction Design has. The primary tasks include being the contact person for the students, identifying issues that need to be handled, and working together with the Studio Director from Interaction Design that has strategic responsibilities for the studio (Georgios Diapoulis). The Studio Manager also supports the management of the Prototyping room of the Interaction Lab (Kuggen, 3rd floor) and supports the coordination of student usage of the Interaction Lab and Media Lab in Kuggen. Of special importance is the task of instructing new students about the safety regulations of the FUSE labs, and collaborating with the FUSE staff on registrations and supplies.
Qualifications
To be qualified for the position you are an active student at bachelor or master level at Chalmers University of Technology or University of Gothenburg. To be qualified for the position you need to have been a student at the Interaction Design and Technologies Master for a year and have gone through the safety regulations regarding the workshops in the FUSE labs. To be further qualified for the position you should have good knowledge in both hardware and software prototyping tools, for example electronics, 3D printing and modelling, laser cutting, computer maintenance, wood, metal and textile workshop experience.
Contract terms
Temporary 20% employment, 10 August 2026 - 18 June 2027
