Job Description:

The Opportunity

At HVDC Control & Protection Software - Tender and Conceptual Design, we play a key role in shaping future HVDC projects long before implementation begins. Our work combines technical expertise, collaboration, and creativity to transform customer requirements into innovative and sustainable solutions.

In addition, our team is actively involved in the development of Multi-Terminal DC (MTDC) systems, one of the most exciting and transformative areas within HVDC technology. As the energy landscape evolves, MTDC will play a key role in enabling more flexible, resilient, and interconnected power networks. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of future MTDC solutions and help shape the next generation of sustainable energy systems.

As a Tender Technical Lead, you will have the opportunity to influence technical decisions and collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines. You will join a team where learning, openness, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work, and where every team member is encouraged to take initiative and grow.

As Tender Technical Lead, you will act as the technical focal point for the Control & Protection scope during the tender phase, coordinating technical input and helping define solutions that form the foundation for future HVDC projects.

"I believe great technology is built by empowered people. I'm looking for a curious and ambitious team player who is eager to learn, ready to take initiative, and passionate about driving innovation forward. At the same time, you understand that the best results come from collaboration, knowledge sharing, and supporting each other. If you want to make a real impact, grow your skills, and help shape the future of energy, I'd love to hear from you" - Sanna Winge, Team Manager Control and Protection Software - Tender and Conceptual Design.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead the Control & Protection scope in HVDC tenders, driving technical solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, customers, and technical experts across multiple engineering disciplines to develop competitive and innovative solutions.
  • Analyze customer requirements, identify technical opportunities, and transform ideas into reliable and cost-effective solutions.
  • Take ownership of technical clarifications, deviations, and design decisions throughout the tender process.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, promoting best practices, and challenging established ways of working.
  • Act as a problem solver and team player, coordinating stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and upholding Hitachi Energy's values of safety, integrity, and accountability.

Your background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience from engineering roles involving technical leadership and coordination of cross-functional teams in complex projects.
  • Experience from HVDC, power transmission, substations, power systems, offshore wind, renewable energy, or other large-scale infrastructure projects is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of HVDC Control & Protection systems is an advantage. However, we are equally interested in your curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to grow in the role. We believe diverse perspectives contribute to stronger teams and better solutions.
  • Collaborative and relationship-oriented professional with the ability to work effectively across disciplines, cultures, and global teams.
  • Confident in taking ownership, leading technical discussions, making informed decisions, and communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and customer-focused, with strong English communication skills and a drive to deliver innovative solutions and business value.
