Tasks and responsibilities

As a Senior Optical Design Engineer, you will take a leading role in developing optical solutions for integrated optoelectronic devices. From designing waveguides and optical elements to modeling beam propagation and optimizing performance, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and advance Coherent’s optical technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Model and simulate optical beam propagation for integrated optoelectronic devices to optimize designs.
• Design optical elements such as waveguides, bends, MMIs, and spot-size converters.
• Develop and specify test methods for optical performance evaluation.
• Contribute to selecting technology platforms and defining technical solutions.
• Collaborate daily with interdisciplinary teams, including Chip Design, Wafer Fabrication, Operations, and Quality.
  
  

Education, experience and personal characteristics

• Broad technical competence in optics, optoelectronic devices, integrated optics, and numerical modeling.

• Deep expertise in areas such as coherent beam optics and integrated optoelectronic devices.

• PhD with a minimum of 5 years, or MSc with a minimum of 10 years of experience in optoelectronics, optics, or semiconductor engineering.

• Fluency in English, both oral and written; proficiency in Swedish is desirable.
