Beskrivning

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Our values - customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste - are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Role Summary

Join our Special Vehicles division and help shape customised transport solutions for defence and other demanding applications.

As a System Engineer, you'll translate unique customer needs into Scania's electronic architecture while contributing to in-house systems and software. Working across the full vehicle lifecycle, you'll gain deep insight into Scania and TRATON's ecosystem - from concept to aftersales.

This role is perfect for a senior engineer who enjoys hands-on work, system-level thinking and delivering real customer impact in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and adapt embedded software (C/C++) for customised vehicle functions.
  • Lead and coordinate complex cross-system assignments.
  • Develop and maintain solutions for defence and special vehicle applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system/software issues in production and field operations.
  • Assess the technical feasibility of after-sales rebuilds from a system and software perspective.
  • Act as a key interface, turning customer needs into effective technical solutions

Who You Are

You are a technically strong System Engineer who can balance detail with a big-picture perspective. You have experience in C/C++ and a solid understanding of embedded software development. You can interpret complex customer needs and turn them into practical solutions.

You take initiative, think proactively, and have an entrepreneurial mindset-owning your work and driving it forward in a dynamic environment.

Skills

Must have:

  • Experience in automotive embedded systems and software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead complex technical tasks across multiple domains.
  • Experience in automotive cybersecurity (ISO 21434).
  • Strong C programming skills in embedded environments (MISRA C is a plus).

  • Fluent in Swedish and English, with strong communication skills

Good to have:

  • Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262).
  • Knowledge of export control and defence systems.
  • Experience with Scania vehicle systems (CRISP).

Personal skills:

  • Strong system-level thinking with attention to detail.
  • Proactive and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership.
  • System-oriented, balancing big-picture thinking with technical depth.
  • Collaborative communicator across teams and disciplines.
  • Curious, structured and motivated to learn and grow continuously.

This Is Us

We're a diverse, international team at Scania, developing advanced, highly customised vehicle solutions. As we grow, we're evolving from a coordination-focused group into a hands-on development team, building systems and software end-to-end.

Our team is close-knit and collaborative, working in a dynamic environment driven by real customer needs. We value transparency, curiosity, teamwork and support each other in tackling complex, meaningful challenges.

You'll report to a manager who leads with openness, trust and honest feedback. The environment is supportive but encourages ownership - you'll have the freedom to take initiative, share ideas and challenge the status quo. If you enjoy improving things and thinking entrepreneurially, you'll thrive here.

We offer a dynamic and engaging workplace where collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement are part of everyday life. You will be part of a strong team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and close cooperation across functions.
