DBtune is an innovative B2B software startup based in Malmö, Sweden. Since our founding in 2020, our dedicated team of engineers and Ph.D. researchers has been on a mission to revolutionize cloud and database management systems using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. DBtune is a spin-off from Stanford University and Lund University.

DBtune's core technology is a fully automated service designed to optimize databases. Our optimizer, based on machine learning, tailors each optimization to the specific customer workload and hardware in use. This approach leads to improved performance, making the process of database tuning more efficient and scalable across hundreds of instances. We make databases more than ten times as fast, save massive infrastructure costs, and reduce the environmental footprint of data management.

We have garnered support from institutional and angel investors in the EU and the US, along with pre-seed funding from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW). DBtune is backed by 42Cap (Germany), Axeleo Capital (France), Tola Capital (USA), Tiny VC (UK), Exxeta (Germany) and JVH Ventures (Germany). Job overview

DBtune is seeking an accomplished software engineer with a strong background in building complex software solutions. As a Senior Backend Engineer at DBtune, you will be building the backbone of our database optimization solution. Your expertise will hone a cutting-edge platform, scaling and hardening the DBtune product to meet the needs of our growing customer base. You will report to the Director of Product.

DBtune encourages employees to attend and represent DBtune at prominent database conferences, sharing expertise and insights on performance engineering and AI-driven database optimization solutions. This role provides a unique platform to contribute to our ongoing mission of revolutionizing cloud and database systems.

What will you be doing?

Day-to-day you will:

• Give customers tools to improve the way they manage database performance. Anything that ends up with our customers has to flow through our AWS-hosted Django backend, so building and maintaining this will form the key part of your work. As we look to grow our customer base you will also need to ensure that we are set-up for scale. You will also leverage our growing design system to deliver updates to the DBtune front-end.
• Work on solving deeply technical problems. The domain of database performance is complex and hard: this is why we exist! To make sure we build solutions that work you will collaborate with our domain experts to dive into the details of what we do and why. And data-driven solutions need data; processing the data that we collect can lead to interesting problems that need well-thought out solutions.
• Help the rest of the team deliver. In a small team, people need to work together and build tools that improve how we can work. For you that could be: setting up monitoring so that we can identify bottlenecks, spinning up new infrastructure for our ML engineers, or expanding our test suite to be as comprehensive as possible.

Location

This role is based in the Malmö office and will involve working with team members based in Colombia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Sweden. .
