Beskrivning
The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 58 000 students and 6800 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.
The Institute is composed of the following four departments:
At present, the institute has about 315 employees and approximately 450 million SEK in total assets.
At the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology, we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic associate researcher with a background in biotechnology, molecular biology, or a related field. The successful candidate will contribute to a research project aimed at characterizing molecular signatures underlying clonal hematopoiesis and investigating their roles in the development of leukemia.
Duties
The researcher will be responsible for handling biological samples, performing molecular analysis using state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques, and analyzing the resulting data. The researcher will also contribute to ongoing next-generation sequencing (NGS) and single-cell omics projects in the lab.
Qualifications
The applicant must hold a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as molecular biology, systems biology, biotechnology or similar subject.
Documented laboratory experience in handling biological samples and using molecular biology techniques is required.
Previous research experience in stem cell biology, hematology, and sequencing-based methods is considered a strong merit.
Fluency in both spoken and written English is required.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability for the position.
Employment
The position is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 11 months, based at the Institute of Biomedicine. Start date as per agreeement.
