Beskrivning

Interested in urban mobility and working in an interdisciplinary team with close connection with stakeholders?

We are looking for a postdoc to join our team at the Division of Physical Resuorce Theory, Department of Environmental and Energy Sciences. Become a part of the team and contributing to research on current and future mobility service usage and attitudes among car and non-car owners.

About us

At https://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/env/ andhttps://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/env/research/frt/ we identify, analyse and describe the major sustainability challenges of our time, with the aim of developing models, tools and competitive technological solutions to support the transition in sectors such as energy, transport and heavy industry. Within a scientifically excellent environment, we develop new technologies, build knowledge and educate the engineers of the future who can contribute to a sustainable society in the long term. A significant part of our research also takes a systems perspective, focusing on the interaction between technology, society and the environment in order to develop resilient solutions for the future.

About the research project

Despite increasing research on car-free households, there is still a lack of understanding of how car owners and non-car owners differ in their mobility patterns, satisfaction, and use of mobility services such as car-sharing, cargo-bikes, and attitudes toward emerging technologies such as shared autonomous vehicles. This project addresses that gap through a mixed-method study combining survey data with in-depth interviews. An interdisciplinary approach, integrating systems and policy perspectives with behavioral psychology, will deepen the analysis.

Who we are looking for

The following requirements are mandatory:

A doctoral degree in transportation, urban planning, psychology or other relevant fields. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience in mixed-method analysis, ie. both qualitative and quantitative analysis

Ability to work both independently and in interdisciplinary research teams

You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

The following experience will strengthen your application:

It is highly meritorious if the doctoral degree has been obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline

Experience in survey analysis, interviews and stakeholder engagement

Experience working across disciplines or with stakeholders in transport, urban planning, public policy

What you will do

Develop conceptual frameworks for mobility service usage

Statistical analysis of surveys

Qualitative interviews with residents in Gothenburg

Supervise master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent

Possibility to engage in teaching at undergraduate/master's level

The position is meritorious for future roles in academia, industry, or the public sector.

Contract terms

The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension.

The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.
