About this opportunity:



Ericsson is consolidating legacy test environments, including NGTE and RVC, into a unified Common Test System (CTS). This transformation aims to reduce complexity, improve development efficiency, and establish a common way of working across products, sites, and organizations.

A key challenge is ensuring that new CTS capabilities behave consistently with their legacy counterparts. Today, validation often depends on manual comparisons and expert judgment. At the same time, the migration involves hundreds of functions, workflows, and integrations, making it challenging to prioritize migration candidates, assess readiness, and track progress.

This thesis will explore how automation, data analytics, and AI can accelerate the CTS transition while maintaining confidence, quality, and delivery speed.

What you will do:

• Design and evaluate an automated framework for comparing legacy NGTE/RVC implementations with CTS implementations.
• Execute equivalent test scenarios and automatically compare outputs and behavior.
• Detect and classify differences, distinguishing expected variations from potential defects.
• Explore AI-assisted techniques for anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and result classification.
• Develop a confidence-scoring approach for assessing migration readiness.
• Create data-driven methods to prioritize migration candidates based on risk, complexity, dependencies, and business value.
• Develop ways to measure migration progress, identify rollout risks and bottlenecks, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Explore concepts for dashboard visualization and CI/CD integration to support continuous validation.
• Evaluate the proposed solutions using relevant Ericsson migration data and provide recommendations for future CTS rollout and migration planning.

The skills you bring:

• You are pursuing an MSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, or a related field.
• You have strong programming skills in Python and/or Java.
• You have an interest in software testing, verification, test automation, and software quality engineering.
• You have knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, data analytics, and/or machine learning.
• You are interested in dashboard development, data visualization, and turning complex data into actionable insights.
• You are analytical, structured, and able to work independently on a complex technical problem.
• Knowledge of migration planning, anomaly detection, or continuous validation is an advantage.
