Business Continuity Manager - Resilience, Preparedness & Business Continuity

Do you want to help strengthen Sweden's resilience?

The security and preparedness landscape is evolving rapidly. Expectations on critical infrastructure operators are increasing, and the ability to prevent, withstand and recover from disruptions has become a strategic priority for both industry and society.

At VAROPreem, you will have the opportunity to work at the heart of these challenges.

We are looking for a highly experienced professional to lead the development of our capabilities within Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management, Total Defence Planning, Security of Supply and Protective Security. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine strategic development with tangible business impact in an organisation that forms a vital part of Sweden's critical infrastructure. [

For someone motivated by building organisational resilience, navigating complex stakeholder environments and strengthening long-term preparedness, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.

About the Role

As Business Continuity Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for developing, coordinating and continuously improving the organisation's work within business continuity, crisis management, total defence planning, security of supply and protective security.

You will operate at the intersection of business operations, security, regulatory compliance and societal responsibility. The role carries significant accountability and provides substantial influence on the organisation's long-term ability to manage disruptions, crises and an increasingly complex external environment.

As a senior specialist, you will lead strategic development initiatives and coordinate efforts across operational functions, HR, information security, cyber security, corporate security and other key stakeholders. You will provide expert support to senior leadership and represent VAROPreem in dialogue with governmental authorities, industry associations and external collaboration forums.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Drive the implementation of new regulatory requirements and translate them into effective operational capabilities.
  • Coordinate activities related to protective security legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Perform assessments, gap analyses and improvement initiatives across the resilience and preparedness domain.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate training programmes, exercises and preparedness activities.
  • Develop decision-making material and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Represent the company in interactions with governmental authorities, industry organisations and external networks.

What We Offer

With us, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Contribute to the resilience of an organisation that forms part of Sweden's critical infrastructure.
  • Play a key role in strengthening the company's capabilities within business continuity, crisis management, total defence and security.
  • Operate at the interface between industry, government authorities and other critical societal actors.
  • Influence how the organisation responds to and implements evolving regulatory frameworks, including the CER Directive, NIS2 and protective security legislation.
  • Work within a field that is expected to grow in both strategic importance and societal relevance over the coming years.

This is a highly visible role with broad responsibilities and significant opportunities to influence both the long-term development of the organisation and its ability to address future challenges.

Your Background

We are looking for candidates with an academic degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

You have several years of experience working within Business Continuity Management, Crisis Management, Risk Management or related disciplines, and a proven track record of leading complex development initiatives in larger organisations.

In addition, you bring:
  • Experience working in complex organisations with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience preparing decision-making material and advising senior leadership teams.
  • A strong understanding of the changing security environment and its implications for critical infrastructure and essential services.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Swedish (C1 level) and English (B2 level), written and spoken.

The following experience is considered an advantage:
  • Total Defence Planning.
  • Protective Security.
  • Defence, government agencies, critical infrastructure or other highly regulated environments.
  • Energy, industrial manufacturing or process industries.
  • Organisations with high requirements for resilience, security and operational continuity.

Is This You?

You possess the ability to see the bigger picture, understand long-term implications and translate complex challenges into clear priorities and practical solutions.

You build credibility through your expertise, sound judgement and personal integrity. You are skilled at influencing and creating alignment without formal authority and can successfully bring people together around shared goals, even when perspectives differ.
