Android Software Test Engineer

What happens when Android software has to work seamlessly with hardware, ECUs and vehicle communication? In this role, you will work at the heart of that complexity. You will verify a new Android-based software platform, build test automation in Python and investigate issues across software, hardware and communication layers. The role:

As an Android Software Test Engineer, you will join a cross-functional R&D team developing a new Android-based software platform.

Your focus will be automated software verification. You will develop, maintain and execute tests in Python and pytest, analyze failures and work closely with developers to identify root causes and improve software quality.

The environment combines Android with embedded systems, Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and communication interfaces such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet and Bluetooth. Troubleshooting often goes beyond the application itself and requires an understanding of how software, hardware and communication layers interact.

You will also contribute to improving test frameworks, automation practices and CI/CD integration. The team is building for the long term, giving you the opportunity to influence how verification is performed as the platform evolves.

What you'll be working on:Develop, maintain and execute automated tests in Python and pytest

Verify Android-based software in an automotive and system-level environment

Analyze test results and investigate software failures

Work closely with developers to identify root causes and resolve issues

Support HIL and ECU-based test execution and analysis

Validate functionality across CAN, LIN, Ethernet and Bluetooth

Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

Improve test frameworks, tools and verification methods

What we're looking for:Around 4-7 years of experience in software testing, software verification or test automation

Hands-on experience with automated testing of Android-based software, Android Auto or Android Automotive

Strong practical experience with Python-based test automation, preferably using pytest or a comparable framework

Basic understanding of HIL and ECU-based testing, together with familiarity with automotive communication technologies such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet or Bluetooth

Experience with Git, CI/CD and tools such as Jenkins

Strong troubleshooting skills and experience analyzing test failures together with developers

Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams

Professional working proficiency in English

Experience with Android Automotive OS, Appium, embedded systems, automotive test tools, simulation environments, ISO 26262 or Automotive SPICE is a plus.

Our client is a global technology company developing advanced products and systems where software, electronics and connected technologies play a central role.

You will join an R&D environment in Eskilstuna where software, hardware and complex technical systems are developed side by side.

Employment:

This is a consultancy assignment, which means that you will be employed by Friday and work as a consultant with our client.
