About the Role

KPMG Tax & Legal in Sweden is expanding its Tax & Legal Technology team and is looking for a hands-on AI Solutions Engineer to turn AI ambitions into practical solutions across our Tax & Legal service lines with tax and legal consultants. This role focuses on building and scaling AI use cases to transform day-to-day work, ensuring that our teams can leverage AI effectively and safely in their delivery. You will translate complex business needs into AI-driven tools and workflows that improve efficiency, quality, and compliance in our Tax & Legal practice. Working closely with our AI Lead (who drives AI strategy, governance, and adoption), the AI Solutions Engineer drives execution and delivery - together forming a balanced partnership of control and execution to achieve enterprise-level AI adoption. You will collaborate across service lines and with Nordic colleagues, ensuring solutions align with KPMG's Global and EMA AI initiatives and standards.

What you will do

• Build & Implement AI Solutions: Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions that address real business problems in Tax & Legal. You will create AI personas, prompts, and agents using firm-approved platforms like Digital Gateway GenAI, Microsoft 365 Copilot (including Copilot Studio), aIQ, and Lovable. This includes rapid prototyping and testing of proof-of-concepts to demonstrate value early. You will integrate large language models (LLMs) and automation workflows to embed AI into daily work, moving solutions from pilot to production.

• Enable & Scale Use Cases Across Service Lines: Engage closely with Tax & Legal teams and AI Champions to identify high-value AI opportunities and translate business needs into standardized AI solutions. You will replicate and scale successful use cases across multiple service lines, ensuring that solutions are reusable and standardized rather than one-off experiments. Partner with service line stakeholders to adapt AI tools to their workflows, ensuring broad adoption and consistent usage.

• Ensure Compliant & Practical Adoption: Operate within governance frameworks and policies to ensure all AI solutions meet security, data privacy, and risk management requirements. You will embed best practices in prompt engineering, persona development, and AI workflow design to optimize performance while upholding responsible AI principles. Work in tandem with the AI Lead and Risk/Legal teams to review solutions that involve sensitive data or client use, ensuring compliance and ethical standards from design to deployment. By aligning with KPMG's Nordic, EMA, and Global AI directives, you will ensure our local solutions are both innovative and secure.

Why This Role is important

AI investments risk remaining theoretical without strong execution. Service lines need practical, hands-on support to embed AI in their day-to-day work. This role is the execution engine that takes AI from ambition to reality - bridging the gap between strategic vision and on-the-ground implementation. By focusing on scalable, compliant solutions, the AI Solutions Engineer ensures that our AI initiatives do not remain siloed experiments but become reliable tools that transform how our professionals deliver value. Scaling requires standardization; without this role's expertise, AI efforts might stay isolated and underutilized. With you in place, good ideas will become working solutions that are widely adopted across Tax & Legal.

• Hands-On AI Engineering Expertise: Strong programming skills and experience building AI or software solutions (3-5+ years in a role such as AI Engineer, or similar). Proven ability to code in languages like Python, work with APIs and automation scripts, and develop end-to-end solutions integrating ML/AI components. Familiarity with modern LLM API platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic, and frameworks for prompt orchestration or agent development such as Microsoft Copilot Studio are required.

• AI & ML Knowledge: Deep understanding of Generative AI and LLMs, including prompt engineering and fine-tuning concepts. Hands-on experience implementing large language model solutions. Familiarity with machine learning pipelines, and knowledge of data preprocessing, and basic evaluation techniques is beneficial.

• Enterprise Technology & Cloud Proficiency: Experience developing and deploying solutions in an enterprise environment - including familiarity with cloud platforms (especially Azure or comparable cloud services) and architecture for integrating AI solutions securely at scale. Understanding of IT security and data privacy (e.g., identity management, access controls, GDPR considerations) to ensure compliance when handling sensitive data. Experience with enterprise AI platforms and tools, for instance, Microsoft 365 Copilot ecosystem or similar internal platforms is a strong advantage.

• Collaboration & Business Mindset: Excellent ability to work cross-functionally with business domain experts (Tax & Legal professionals) to gather requirements and refine use cases. Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and to document solutions and train users on new AI tools. A consultative approach and understanding of professional services or regulated industries (Tax/Legal/Finance) is a plus, enabling you to better tailor AI solutions to business context.

• Innovation & Problem-Solving: Curiosity and adaptability to the fast-evolving AI landscape. You stay current with new models, frameworks, and best practices in AI/ML, and you are eager to experiment with new tools for practical benefit. You bring a creative mindset to surmount technical challenges and find pragmatic solutions to business problems with AI.

• Education & Qualifications: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer, Azure Data Scientist Associate, or OpenAI/Deep Learning AI specializations) are a plus.

• Language skills: Fluency in English is required and a strong proficiency in Swedish is preferred.

Success in This Role Looks Like

Within your first year, you will have built several AI solutions that are being actively used by our Tax & Legal teams in Sweden, resulting in clear efficiency gains and quality improvements in service delivery. You will have scaled successful prototypes into standardized tools used across multiple service lines, reducing duplicated effort and increasing reuse of AI capabilities. Business stakeholders will report that AI is making their daily work faster and more consistent, broadening AI adoption across the practice. At the same time, all deployed solutions will be fully compliant and properly governed, with key risks mitigated. You will have accelerated the value realized from our AI investments by turning ideas into tangible results.

Location & ways of working

This role is based in Stockholm, Sweden, working in a Nordic collaboration model. Other locations in Sweden may be considered for the right candidate.
