Beskrivning

Welcome to HARALD PIHL - where metals meet people, and curiosity meets craftsmanship.

We're a family-owned company with over 110 years of history, but our mindset is anything but old-fashioned. Here, professionalism goes hand in hand with warmth, teamwork, and a healthy dose of positive energy.

We believe in being curious, solution-oriented, and honest in everything we do - and we're proud of the culture we build together, across borders, roles, and locations. If you enjoy taking responsibility, making things better than they were yesterday, and being part of a company that truly cares about both results and people, you might feel right at home with us.

About the role

We are looking for a Warehouse & Quality Operator to join our team in Birmingham.

This is more than a traditional warehouse role. It is a hands-on position combining warehouse operations, material processing, and quality, where accuracy, traceability and attention to detail are just as important as getting materials safely and efficiently through the warehouse.

You will work with our specialist alloy materials throughout the operational process, from receiving and inspection through stock handling and material processing to final preparation and dispatch.

You will also support quality-related activities such as dimensional inspection, material certification, documentation, and verification of customer orders.

Your mission is to make sure that every material is handled safely, processed correctly, and remains fully traceable throughout its journey, while contributing to the high-quality standards our customers expect from us.

What you'll do

Your responsibilities will include, among others:

Receiving, unloading, and inspecting incoming materials and deliveries

Accurately booking materials into stock and maintaining stock records in our ERP system

Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders for dispatch

Loading and unloading vehicles using forklifts and lifting equipment

Maintaining correct material identification, labelling, and traceability throughout the process

Operating saws and other material processing equipment safely and accurately

Cutting and preparing materials according to work instructions and customer requirements

Performing dimensional and quality checks and using measuring equipment where required

Ensuring correct segregation and handling of materials in accordance with quality procedures

Identifying and reporting non-conforming materials or process issues

Supporting goods-in and final inspection activities

Supporting review of material certificates, Certificates of Conformity and other quality documentation, depending on experience

Participating in stock counts and supporting stock accuracy

Following Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe operating practices

Supporting internal audits and continuous improvement activities

Working closely with colleagues across Warehouse, Quality, Sales, and Operations to ensure customer requirements are met

As our business continues to grow, the role may evolve with additional responsibilities and development opportunities over time.

Who we're looking for

This role could be a great fit for someone who already has solid experience from a manufacturing, engineering, metals, aerospace, or similar industrial warehouse environment and wants to take on broader responsibility, particularly within quality and material control.

You don't necessarily need to be a quality specialist today. What matters is that you understand the importance of accuracy, procedures and traceability, take pride in getting things right the first time and are interested in continuing to develop your quality knowledge.

Required experience & knowledge

Previous warehouse experience in a manufacturing, engineering, metals, aerospace, or industrial environment

Experience working with Titanium, Nickel Alloys, Stainless Steels, or other high-performance alloys

Counterbalance Forklift Licence

Experience operating Bar/ Plate Saw

Good understanding of warehouse operations and safe material handling

Ability to read and follow work instructions and procedural documentation

Strong awareness of quality, accuracy, and traceability requirements

Experience using PC-based systems and ERP systems

Good understanding of workplace Health & Safety requirements

Fluent English, written and spoken

Nice to have

Experience with goods-in or final inspection

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Experience with First Article Inspection documentation

Experience reviewing Certificates of Conformity and material certification

Experience operating CNC saws, Waterjet or Laser Cutting equipment

Experience working in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality environment

Experience using measuring equipment such as Verniers, Micrometers and Height Gauges

Knowledge of aerospace or defence materials

Personal competencies

We believe how you work is just as important as what you know. For this role, we value that you are:

Quality-minded - you have an eye for detail, value accuracy and take pride in getting things right the first time

Structured - you work methodically, follow procedures, and understand why documentation and traceability matter

Cooperative - you enjoy working with others and contribute to a positive, supportive working environment

Reliable - you take ownership of your responsibilities, manage priorities, and can be counted on to deliver

What it's like to work with us

At HARALD PIHL, you'll join a team that enjoys working together and takes pride in what we do. We offer a productive and supportive environment where everyone contributes to the success of the business. We are a results-driven team, but we also believe work should be enjoyable. Collaboration, respect, and a willingness to help each other are important parts of our culture.

You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills, take responsibility, and become part of a growing international company with specialist expertise and a long history of serving customers across industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Medical and Energy.

If you enjoy practical, hands-on work but also have an eye for detail and a genuine interest in quality, this could be a great opportunity to take the next step.

If you're looking for a role where your work truly matters and where you can make a difference every day, we'd love to hear from you.
