At the Department of Applied Information Technology, critical and interdisciplinary research is conducted in an international environment of the highest quality with great relevance to the surrounding society. Our researchers are in the midst of the debate to help explain and problematize IT- and society-related challenges linked to the digitalization of society.
We develop the individual's knowledge and ability to analyze, understand and handle various aspects of IT as well as the interaction between human and technology in areas such as human-computer interaction, Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, digital innovation, e-Health, mobile communication, robots, social media and IT in schools and teaching.
We provide education at Bachelor's and Master's level anchored in research and the development of society.
About the division of Cognitive science, Information Technology and Learning, Interaction design, Communication (CLIC)
CLIC is an interdisciplinary division that works with issues related to cognitive science, learning and IT, interaction design, and communication, with a focus on understanding and developing the interplay between people, technology, and society. We offer education at both Bachelor's and Master's levels, including programmes in Cognitive Science, Communication, and Learning and IT, and we also contribute to international Master's programmes, standalone courses, and contract education. Our interdisciplinary research spans areas such as design research, artificial intelligence, cognition, communication, and digital learning, with projects funded by national and international research councils, industry, and other organisations, in close collaboration with both industry and society.

Job assignments
As a student assistant, you will be responsible for research work within the Vinnova funded project I-AIMS-2 in collaboration with other reseachers on the project. These areas of responsibility will include: experimental design, data collection and analysis with regard to human-technology interaction (autonomous vehicles); biometric analysis (emotion and eye tracking-based analysis).
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in cognitive science. You must have good knowledge of experimental design including qualitative and quantitative analysis. A key requirement is that you have experience in biometric analysis, e.g. eye tracking and facial expression analysis. You must be very knowledgeable and have documetned experience in conducting human-compuer interaction research, e.g. with robots or (semi-autonomous) vehicles. The candidate must have at least basic knowledge of python and algorithms within artificial intelligence (AI).
The university will through this recruitment make a holistic assessment of aptitude and skills and select the applicant which is deemed to have the best pre-requisites to conduct and develop current tasks of the position, interact and collaborate with other staff, as well as contributing to a positive development of the Division and Department.

The position is a fixed-term employment (special fixed-term employment) of 50 % of fulltime, for 4 months, with placement at The Department of Applied Information Technology, The Division of Cognitive science, Information Technology and Learning, Interaction design, Communication.
Start date 15 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
