Beskrivning

Scania is undergoing a transformation from being a leading supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to providing complete and sustainable transport solutions. Together with TRATON and our sister brands MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and International, we are working to shape the future of mobility with innovative and environmentally conscious solutions. Ventures and New Business at Scania have a key role in contributing to this vision. We drive the industry transformation: At Ventures and New Business we develop complementing solutions to our core and build new growth through ventures and investments. Our values - customer first, respect, team spirit, responsibility, and elimination of waste - are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are at the forefront of creating a sustainable future.

Scania is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help shape how we understand, value, price, and manage electric vehicle assets over time.

This role is for someone who wants to own complex analytical problems, not only build models. You will work with imperfect operational data, commercial tradeoffs, and decisions that matter: residual value, pricing, lifecycle planning, asset risk, and long-term value creation.

Role Summary

You will join a small team with broad responsibilities and close contact with business, finance, product, engineering, and data colleagues. Your work will connect data science with real asset decisions, from assumptions and analysis to model services and recommendations that others can rely on.

Prior experience with electric vehicles, batteries, finance, fintech, pricing, risk, or asset valuation is valuable, but not required. We are looking primarily for seniority in judgement, ownership, and the ability to create clarity in complex problem areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop models for battery-electric vehicle usage, remaining useful life, residual value, pricing, lifecycle forecasting, and portfolio risk.
  • Turn data such as mileage, energy usage, battery health, charging behavior, and asset value into clear decision support.
  • Define, test, and document assumptions around lifetime, degradation, refurbishment, second-life value, pricing, and risk exposure.
  • Improve, maintain, and operate deployed models and decision-support services used in real business decisions, including APIs, scheduled jobs, tests, monitoring, and versioning.
  • Communicate technical and financial reasoning clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.

Who You Are

You likely have:

  • Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience working across modelling, analysis, data quality, and production-quality code.
  • Experience building models that support business decisions, for example in pricing, risk, forecasting, asset valuation, lifecycle economics, finance, fintech, or portfolio analytics.
  • Cloud experience, including deploying or operating data products, APIs, scheduled jobs, model services, or similar workloads.
  • Demonstrated ownership from unclear business problem to model, data pipeline, deployment, adoption, and maintenance.
  • Strong self-leadership: you structure ambiguous work, make sound tradeoffs, challenge weak assumptions, and help raise the quality around you.
  • A Master's degree in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, economics, or a related discipline.
