About the Role
You will take the lead in CMF development for vehicle programs where color, material, and finish are central to both brand expression and production feasibility. In this role, you turn strategic direction into CMF concepts that can move all the way from early concept work to launch, balancing creative vision with technical reality.
You will work in a cross-functional automotive environment together with design, engineering, visualization, modeling, trim, paint, and supplier teams. The role suits you if you enjoy both the big picture and the fine detail, from macro themes and storytelling to quilt, perforation, texture, and mesh pattern specifications. It is a strong opportunity to shape production-ready design in a complex product setting where your ideas need to be both inspiring and buildable.
Job DescriptionYou will lead CMF development for one or more vehicle programs from concept through launch.
You will create complete CMF proposals covering color, material, and finish, including technical drawings for details such as quilt and perforation patterns.
You will translate CMF strategy into feasible, production-ready design solutions.
You will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, modelers, visualization specialists, trimmers, and painters to move ideas forward.
You will coordinate with suppliers within exterior paint, soft trim, and decorative materials.
You will develop both high-level CMF themes and detailed design elements such as textures and mesh patterns.
You will produce visual presentations, renders, and storytelling material that communicate your ideas clearly.
You will contribute to sustainability initiatives and explore material innovation.
You will support and mentor other CMF designers while helping build knowledge sharing in the team.
You will present proposals confidently to stakeholders and leadership.
RequirementsBachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field.
6-10 years of CMF experience.
Proven experience delivering production-ready CMF programs.
Experience working with cross-functional and global teams.
Experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
Ability to independently lead CMF programs.
Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and manufacturing feasibility.
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Ability to create high-quality renders in VRED or Blender.
Nice to haveExperience from the automotive industry.
Familiarity with Rhino.
Knowledge of generative AI tools.
