Senior Character Concept Artist

The role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Character Concept Artist to join our creative concept team. As a Senior Character Concept Artist, you will be responsible for helping to set the style and design of a wide variety of character and creature concepts. You should bring a deep knowledge of game development, experience and passion to create believable and appealing characters organic and mechanical.

The team

As a senior working with the Art Director, you will be responsible for creating inspiring work for the wider development team, and setting the benchmark for outsourcing partners, whilst ensuring the artistic vision is adhered to.

Responsibilities

Creating grounded and believable character designs that appeal to a broad market.

Creating and maintaining a consistent visual style that fits within the Art Direction for the project.

Communicate with the Art Director and Character Team to discuss progress and review work.

Collaborate with the wider art team and other disciplines to understand their requirements and ensure clarity for teams downstream in the pipeline.

Requirements

An exceptional character art portfolio showing a wide range of character designs

5+ years' experience working in AAA game development

Creative mindset towards visual problem solving and dynamic iteration

Strong artistic fundamentals that show a deep understanding of anatomy, shape hierarchy, and industrial design

Bonus points

Experience with Blender, Zbrush, or similar 3D content packages

Interest in hard surface design

Familiarity with video game product development including workflow, tools, limits of technology, collaborative iteration

Affinity for playing RPGs and online games

Active communicator, comfortable with interacting with other disciplines

Good organizational and time-management skills

Sharkmob is a Swedish game developer founded in 2017. We create AAA-quality games for PC and console, using the Unreal Engine to power our ambitions of taking multiplayer games to new heights. We are currently developing Exoborne, our first original IP. In 2022, we released Bloodhunt, a battle royale set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe.
