Senior Backend Developer

Role description
In your new developer role, you will take part in building the 3DAI™ City platform. It is a scalable answer to the growing demand for data about the urban environment and part of our efforts in smart city development. You will play an important role in designing, building and scaling the platform. 3DAI™ City is still a young product, and you will have a lot to contribute and freedom to shape the project.

• You will be responsible for growing our platform for storing, processing, and visualizing massive amounts of geospatial and time-series data.
• You will use your experience to design efficient solutions for our backend systems.
• You will have the opportunity to create innovative technologies that will directly help road managers reduce carbon emissions and save lives by improving road safety.

Who you are

• You have 5+ years of backend experience (or a proven track record of equivalent depth) building production-grade services using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS, with a solid grasp of REST APIs and GraphQL.
• You are highly experienced with geospatial and time-series data, bringing hands-on knowledge of specialized tools and databases (such as PostGIS) to solve complex spatial and temporal data challenges.
• You have hands-on experience with Serverless computing or Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Docker, or the Serverless Framework to reliably deploy, manage, and scale cloud resources.
• You can own features end-to-end, translating high-level specifications into clean, maintainable web services-handling everything from database schemas and security to logging, monitoring, and scaling.
• You understand distributed systems and are comfortable designing and reasoning about asynchronous processing, caching, queues, and service-to-service communication.
• You embrace agentic workflows and AI-assisted development, leveraging tools like Cursor or Claude Code to accelerate delivery, refactor complex codebases, and automate tasks, all while maintaining strict engineering standards.
• You champion code quality, treating unit and integration testing as essential, while continuously keeping up with modern software engineering best practices.
• You are a collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge, embraces feedback, and is driven by the desire to see your ideas successfully deployed into production.

Bonus points

You have experience working with any of these systems or technologies:

• High-performance relational, analytical, or NoSQL databases.
• Messaging and event-driven systems such as SQS, SNS, Kafka, or similar.
• Observability tools for logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployment workflows.
