The University of Gothenburg is Sweden's only university with practice-based research that spans the artistic fields of design, visual art, film and photography as well as craft, literary composition, curatorial practices and art education.
The Artistic Faculty comprises of two departments: HDK-Valand - Academy of Art and Design and the Academy of Music and Drama. In addition, the faculty hosts the international publication platform and biennial conference PARSE (Platform for Artistic Research Sweden), which aims to foster dialogue between interdisciplinary artistic practitioners and researchers.
HDK-Valand's research environment values a broad and inclusive approach whereby knowledge is produced within established research formats, experimental artistic practices and education. Our research contributes to discourses on environmental, societal and cultural challenges through engagement in interdisciplinary projects. Four research themes oriented around politics, the environment, economics and materiality operate as focus areas to facilitate collaboration between different subjects and actors, and to provide a broad base for both research and teaching. An overarching objective at HDK-Valand is the development of a complete academic environment grounded in these themes.
THINGSTIGATE research project is looking for a per hour research assistants to assist with research data workflow, fieldwork for data collection, and data analysis.

Duties
You will assist with the research data workflow, fieldwork for data collection, and data analysis. Your main tasks will include:
You will work per hours when needed. Working hours will vary during the period.
Eligibility
MA in a relevant subject. Demonstrable knowledge of the project's conceptual and theoretical framework, as well as previous experience with fieldwork followed by data preparation and analysis within the project's scope is a must. Experience in artistic production, using Nvivo for data analysis and writing, as well as in co-authoring papers within the project scope are highly meritorious. The person should be able to communicate in English.
Employment
The employment is intermittent and applies for the period from 10 August 2026 to 31 December 2026.
In an intermittent employment, you are called in and may choose to accept the offered work, which then constitutes a new employment relationship on each individual occasion. You also have the right to decline such offers.
Hours worked are reported to the employer on a monthly basis.

- Ensure research data workflow is followed through according to the project guideline.
- Assist in preparation and implementation of fieldwork for data collection according to the project's need.
- Assist in analysis of the collected data according to the project's conceptual and theoretical framework
- Assist in publication of research results.
