Beskrivning

SKF has been around for more than a century, and today we are one of the world's largest suppliers of solutions for rotating equipment. Our products are found throughout society - wherever there is movement, SKF's solutions may be in use. This means we are an important part of the everyday lives of people and companies around the world.

We are now looking to strengthen our Laboratory in Gothenburg with a new team member.

Are you experienced in metallography? Do you enjoy working in a collaborative, problem-solving environment where your work contributes to product quality and performance?

Then you might be our next...

Material Investigation Specialist

We're looking for a new team member to the Gothenburg Laboratory, which is part of SKF's Global Laboratory organization.

Our laboratory supports both local SKF factories and global operations with a wide range of materials technology and chemistry services - from heat treatment release analysis to advanced failure investigations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation in material investigations. As your experience grows, you will develop expertise in material classification, root cause analysis, and advanced analytical techniques - with the potential to evolve into a more consultative role and contribute broadly across the organization.

You will be part of a skilled and supportive team of nine colleagues based in Gothenburg. While your daily work is locally rooted, you will also engage with Global SKF Laboratories, fostering knowledge exchange and alignment of practices across international teams. The role involves close collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams, requiring both technical depth and the ability to communicate insights clearly.

Key responsibilities

Perform heat treatment release analyses to support production and quality assurance

Conduct metallographic investigations for manufacturing, application engineering, and product/process development

Provide technical expertise in metallurgy aligned with SKF's needs

Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and service quality

Participate in knowledge sharing and coordination across SKF's global laboratory network

Interpret and document analysis results, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders

Requirements

A university degree in materials science or a related field

Experience in metallographic investigation techniques, ideally with some laboratory background - we believe you bring a few years of hands-on experience in this area

Experience in heat treatment is an advantage

A curious mindset and a long-term view - you're motivated to grow in the role and contribute to the team's development over time

Ability to zoom in on technical details while also understanding and communicating the broader context and contribution

Ability to work independently on planned analyses while collaborating with others when needed

Effective communication skills in Swedish and English - including the ability to explain your technical knowledge to colleagues

SKF is committed to creating a diverse environment, and we firmly believe that a diverse workforce is essential for our continued success. Therefore, we focus on your experience, skills, and potential. Come as you are - just be yourself. #weareSKF

You'll enjoy working here if

You're an effective collaborator with a sense of quality and a forward-thinking approach to your daily work. You are motivated by applying your technical expertise to real-world challenges.

If this sounds like a promising opportunity, we look forward to receiving your application.

We offer

A well-equipped laboratory with training in metallographic and heat treatment analysis of SKF products

Opportunities for professional development in metallurgy and analytical techniques

A workplace that values diversity and inclusion, focusing on your experience, skills, and potential
