In this role, you will contribute to the development of safety-critical automotive systems, ensuring compliance with functional safety standards throughout the product lifecycle. We're looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg. In this role, you will contribute to the development of safety-critical automotive systems, ensuring compliance with functional safety standards throughout the product lifecycle. If you're passionate about system safety, risk assessment, and working in a collaborative international environment, we'd love to hear from you!
Your Responsibilities:
- Plan, perform, and document Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) in accordance with ISO 26262
- Develop and maintain Functional Safety Concepts (FSC), Technical Safety Concepts (TSC), and safety cases for automotive systems
- Define and refine safety requirements and safety mechanisms for safety-critical functions
- Collaborate with system, hardware, software, testing, and supplier teams to ensure safety requirements are implemented effectively
- Maintain traceability of safety requirements throughout the development lifecycle
- Prepare, review, and manage functional safety work products, including safety plans, FMEA/FMEDA, and safety cases
- Lead or support confirmation reviews and functional safety assessments
- Support ISO 26262 audits by preparing evidence, conducting gap analyses, and following up on corrective actions
- Drive safety-related discussions and contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes and methodologies
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 7 to 10 years of experience in functional safety engineering within the automotive industry
- Strong practical experience with ISO 26262, including HARA, safety concepts, and safety case development
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and maintaining functional safety work products
- Knowledge of safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, SPFM, LFM, and PMHF
- Experience supporting or participating in functional safety audits and assessments
- Strong system engineering background in safety-critical automotive systems
- Hands-on experience with requirements and safety management tools such as SystemWeaver, Medini, JIRA, DOORS, Codebeamer, Jama, XFMEA, or similar
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership
- Professional proficiency in English
