The role in short
Front Desk is the first thing people meet at Urban OM and the last thing they remember. The job is to hold the feeling of the place during your shift - so that the studio feels the same whether it's a Tuesday morning or a full Thursday evening.
This is more than a reception job. Many who come to us are new, and some come in periods when things are hard. You're the one who makes that easy: you see them, you show them where things are, you make the space feel warm and cared for. That's what turns a first visit into a membership.
Three areas:
The welcome - checking members in, answering questions, helping new visitors find their way, knowing who's who.
The space - preparing the shala before class and resetting it after, making tea, lighting candles, keeping the studio, changing rooms and reception clean, stocked and beautiful.
The shift - following the routines for your shift, solving what comes up, and handing over a studio in good shape to whoever comes next.
What the role doesn't own: scheduling, staffing and teacher coordination sit with the Studio Manager. Events, workshops and marketing sit with the Event Manager. Pricing and memberships sit with the owner.
We're looking for someone who can hold a space
You know that feeling when you walk into a studio and everything is right? The teacher is there, the room is prepared, someone at the desk recognises you, the music is right. Nothing jars.
That doesn't happen by itself. It's someone's job.
About Urban OM
We're possibly Stockholm's largest yoga studio - with over 2,000 visits a month. Three rooms in the middle of town, a broad schedule of yoga, dance, meditation and breathwork, and a growing community. A place people come to move, breathe, land and meet each other - and where they get to be exactly as they are.
What you'll do
You hold the place while you're here. You welcome people through the door, handle check-ins and questions, and make sure new visitors leave feeling like they belong.
Around that: you prepare the shala for class and reset it afterwards, make the tea, light the candles, keep things tidy and stocked, and take care of the hundred small details that make Urban OM what it is. Practical work, hands-on, done properly.
Every shift has clear routines, and following them is the job - that consistency is exactly what makes the studio feel the same every time someone walks in. When something comes up that the routine doesn't cover, you solve it and flag it to the Studio Manager.
Who you are
You genuinely like people. Not in a service-voice way - you're actually curious about the person in front of you, and you remember them next time.
You're reliable. When you're on the schedule, you're there, you work through the shift properly, and things are in order when you leave. You can run a shift on your own without someone checking in on you.
You're practical and you don't mind getting your hands dirty.
You're interested in yoga, meditation and wellbeing - you don't need to teach, but people will ask you about classes and teachers, and it shows when the interest is real and you have your own yoga practice.
