We are FatsharkWe are a critically acclaimed Swedish game development studio with about 190 experienced and skilled employees. We are most well-known for developing the Warhammer: Vermintide franchise, but have also helped develop a number of AAA titles and we launched the highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
We have grown quite a bit over the last few years, but we still embrace the same values that we started with. We want to build the best first person co-op games together, in an approachable, fun and passion-driven way.
The role
Are you an experienced game designer with a passion for crafting engaging combat systems? We're looking for a talented Combat Game Designer to join our team, expand our knowledge, and contribute to the development of our unannounced project.
Fatshark is renowned for creating leading first-person melee combat experiences. Your teamwork and feedback will be crucial in shaping the games we create.
This is a 12-month temporary contract, working onsite at our office in Stockholm.
What you'll do
- Design and Evolve: Refine core combat systems and enemy behavior to align with the game vision
- Collaborate and Create: Work closely with the team to develop new enemies that enhance the gameplay experience
- Balance and Tweak: Maintain a keen understanding of the game's meta to balance and adjust combat systems and scenarios to create an engaging player experience
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a professional Game Designer
- Previous experience with enemy design
- Experience working on first-person games
- Strong scripting knowledge
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Bonus qualifications
- Shipped at least one AAA or equivalent game
- Deep knowledge of multiplayer/cooperative/RPG games
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5 and its Gameplay Ability System
- Experience working with AI frameworks (e.g. Behavior Trees, GOAP, State Machines)
- Familiarity with Vermintide and Darktide and their core mechanics

We have a policy of working 4 days in the office per week, with 1 day optional to work from home. The onboarding is being done fully in the office.
