Role Summary

This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden.

As a Vehicle Function Owner (VFO) within TRATON/Scania, you are responsible for the end-to-end ownership of a vehicle function throughout its lifecycle. You act as the central point of coordination, ensuring that the function delivers customer value, meets quality expectations, and is aligned across brands, systems, and stakeholders.

The role combines technical ownership, product thinking, and cross-functional leadership. You work closely with architects, product owners, developers, testers, and suppliers to define, develop, and validate the function in a complex, global environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Define, create, and maintain functional requirements based on customer needs, legal demands, and platform strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant technical documentation to support development, sourcing, and supplier collaboration.
  • Define and drive the feature roadmap across brands within the TRATON Group.
  • Align function scope, priorities, and deliveries across TRATON brands and with external suppliers.
  • Drive and support development activities together with Product Owners and development teams (e.g. backlog alignment in Jira).
  • Ensure verification and validation strategies, including test methods and coverage.
  • Secure end-to-end quality by validating the function in both virtual environments and real vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with functional safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements (i.e TARA, HARA).
  • Ensureend-to-end traceability across requirements, UX flows (e.g Figma), implementation, test cases and validation.
  • Maintain and continuously improve map data, ensuring accuracy and long-term quality.
  • Perform benchmarking and competitor analysis to understand market position and industry trends.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, innovations, and developments within navigation and infotainment.
  • Act as the technical and functional reference point for your function across the organization.


Who You Are

We believe you have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Vehicle navigation systems (truck/bus segment) or infotainment.
  • Embedded software or system development.
  • Requirement engineering and system design.
  • Software and hardware testing/verification.
  • Understanding of software architecture and code.

You are comfortable working in a cross-functional and international setup, and you enjoy taking ownership, driving alignment, and ensuring high-quality delivery.

You have an academic education at university level (Bachelor or Master) within Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field.
