Description & Requirements

At Baker McKenzie, we know that practical experience is essential for taking the next step towards becoming a successful lawyer. That is why we are proud to offer six law students the opportunity to join our Summer Associate Program in Stockholm during the summer of 2027.

Over the course of a six-week internship in June-July, you will become an integral part of our Stockholm office and get a practical introduction to the role of a junior associate. Typical assignments may include legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, preparing memoranda, and assisting with ongoing transactions, disputes, and advisory matters.

As a Summer Associate, you will gain:

  • Practical Experience in Business Law
Work on real client matters alongside experienced lawyers at a leading international law firm. You will get hands-on experience across a range of practice areas, supporting both Swedish and cross-border matters. Through access to our extensive legal library, internal training programs, and close collaboration with colleagues, you will develop practical legal skills and a deeper understanding of the role of a business lawyer.
  • A Supportive and Engaging Learning Environment
From day one, you will receive a comprehensive introduction to the firm and ongoing support throughout the program. Guided by dedicated supervisors, you will be given responsibility, encouraged to take initiative, and exposed to a wide range of legal work. You will also take part in professional development programs, including training in presentation skills and legal writing.
  • A Strong Professional Network and Social Community
The Summer Associate Program is designed not only to develop your legal skills, but also to help you build meaningful professional relationships. Through social activities, networking opportunities, and day-to-day collaboration with colleagues across the firm, you will form valuable connections and experience the collaborative culture that defines Baker McKenzie.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for law students enrolled in a Master of Laws program at a Swedish university who will have completed at least six semesters of legal studies by the start of the Summer Associate Program.

We value candidates who are curious, proactive and collaborative, and who are excited by the opportunity to work in a dynamic international environment.

Ideally, you:

  • Have a genuine interest in business law and want to understand clients' businesses and the challenges they face.

  • Are motivated by intellectually stimulating legal work and enjoy tackling complex problems.
  • Are analytical, meticulous, and structured in your approach.
  • Take initiative, embrace responsibility, and are eager to learn and develop professionally.

  • Enjoy working collaboratively and communicating clearly and professionally.

  • Value teamwork, trust, and continuous learning.
  • Are fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
Application

Please attach your CV, academic transcripts, cover letter, and any other relevant certificates. In your cover letter, please state at least two practice areas that particularly interest you and explain why.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the application period will close once all positions have been filled.

Please note that we do not accept applications submitted by email.

What We Offer

You will join an international firm serving major, well-known clients, with our work organized into practice groups across countries and offices. Equality and diversity are fundamental to us, and we take pride in a culture built on collegiality, teamwork, and trust. You will be part of a sociable workplace with plenty of shared activities, such as workout sessions, soccer tournaments, and weekly breakfasts.

A prime setting - we have recently moved into our newly renovated, state-of-the-art offices at Mäster Samuelsgatan 17, right in the heart of Stockholm.
