AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are technologists with deep domain-specific expertise, able to address advanced concepts and feature designs. As part of the AWS Specialist organization, SSAs work with customers who have complex challenges that require expert-level knowledge to solve. SSAs craft scalable, flexible, and resilient technical architectures that address those challenges.

In this role, you will deliver architecture guidance, lead proof-of-concept projects and conduct customer workshops. You will also drive collaboration with customers and partners to address security as well as compliance challenges.
Your broad responsibilities will include: owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects, working cross-organizationally to facilitate widespread use and adoption of the AWS platform (with security as Priority 1!), and developing a deep expertise in the AWS security technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are securely constructed using the AWS platform. The ideal candidate will possess customer facing skills that will allow them to represent AWS well within the customer's environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation. They should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technology challenges.
The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record of customer obsession and delivering results. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to a solutions architect. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical and business challenges regarding cybersecurity.
Key job responsibilities
Design Customer Solutions
Collaborate with the wider AWS teams to help customers and partners architect securely while leveraging AWS Services
Engage with Solution Architects, Account Managers, Professional Services, and Partners to define an engagement strategy for AWS operational territories and key accounts
Thought Leadership - Provide Security thought leadership on solutions that benefit customers through the use of AWS Services. This takes the form of contribution to external publications such as the AWS Security Blog, whitepapers and reference architectures, as well as internal training of Solutions Architects, Professional Services Consultants, Technical Account Managers, and AWS Trainers
Serve as a key member of the business development and accounting management team in helping to ensure customer success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform.
Assist solution providers with the definition and implementation of technical and business strategies.
Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the worldwide AWS solution architect community
Understand AWS market segments, and industry verticals.
Understand and exploit the use of internal business support systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
- Deep HPC experience for workloads in a domain such as CAE, Weather Simulation, oil and gas, automotive / aerospace, financial services or pharmaceuticals.
- Experience in architecting an HPC system and infrastructure with orchestration schedulers (e.g. Slurm, Torque, Symphony or GridServer), parallel file systems (Lustre, IBM Spectrum Scale)
- Experience in deployment, tuning, benchmarking and management of HPC technologies in a multi-user environment.
- Deep GPU knowledge in HPC and/or AI/ML frameworks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of security architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
- Experience working with Cisos and security engineers
- An advanced degree in computer science, MIS, engineering or related discipline, and relevant industry certifications (CISSP, CISA/M, CIPP/CIPM/CIPT)
- Experience in a customer-facing, sales-aligned role such as consultant, solutions engineer or solutions architect.
- Experience working with IT and Security leadership to articulate security and compliance strategies and plans
- A background working in a regulated industry (such as financial services, healthcare, or defense)
- Professional experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
