Bring your software engineering expertise to Freemelt, a deeptech company at the forefront of metal additive manufacturing. As a Software Lead, you will play a key role in developing the software platforms that steer, monitor and optimize our industrial 3d printing machines. About the role
As a Software Lead at Freemelt, you will lead the development of advanced software systems that control and optimize our metal 3D printing processes. In this role, you will lead and coach a team of 3-4 software engineers working with Scrum. As a team lead you will provide technical leadership, perform code reviews and define manufacturing software strategies for operational excellence. A central part of the role is to translate high-level product goals into clear software requirements and transform them into robust, production-ready implementations. You will guide and oversee the design of scalable, production-ready software for real-time monitoring, machine control and process improvement. You will work closely together with hardware and process engineers to secure seamless integration with our machines.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in complex technical environments, enjoys balancing hands-on development with leadership and wants to influence software strategy while contributing to advanced industrial technology.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers, provide technical guidance, coaching and fostering a collaborative Scrum environment
  • Drive the Scrum methodology, sprint planning and roadmap execution to meet project goals and deliver robust industrial-grade solutions
  • Develop applications by integrating front-end interfaces with back-end services for real-time machine monitoring and control
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, process and electrical engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software interaction
  • Oversee and maintain strong code quality through reviews and best practices
  • Maintain clear and compliant documentation
  • Participate in the working group and contribute to architectural and strategic decisions regarding the company's IT and server infrastructure together with our IT partner

Required qualifications
  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development
  • Strong experience with GNU/ Linuxbased systems, ideally Debian, used in embedded or industrial machine environments
  • Proven experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. OpenAI Codex, Claude Code), combined with strong technical judgment
  • Strong programming skills in Python and GoLang with experience working with software in advanced industrial machine systems
  • Experience with realtime control systems, industrial protocols, or machine communication and monitoring using InfluxDB and Grafana
  • Proven track record of leading software teams, driving agile Scrum practices and delivering complex projects in production environments

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with C++ & GPU programming with OpenCL
  • Experience developing React application
  • Experience with AWS or Azure is a bonus
