Are you passionate about ensuring quality in complex, connected systems where software meets hardware? ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions AB is looking for a hands-on Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team in Stockholm or Landskrona and help strengthen and evolve the quality of our IoT - based access control solutions.

In this role, you will work at the system level, validating end - to - end solutions built on Linux - based hardware platforms, connected devices, and networked ecosystems. You will play a key part in building and improving our test automation capabilities, while still actively engaging in manual and exploratory system testing.

You'll join a cross - functional agile team working closely with developers, other test engineers, and the Product Owner, contributing to predictable, high - quality releases. This role offers a rare opportunity to combine software testing, automation, hardware - based testing, and system - level problem solving in a real - world environment. In this role, you'll thrive in a culture that values engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous learning, empowering you to build a career you can be proud of.

What you will do as our Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and robustness of our systems across software, hardware, and networking layers. You will work hands - on with both manual exploratory testing and test automation, contributing to quality throughout the entire development lifecycle while collaborating closely with developers and the Product Owner.

For example, you would:
  • Design, execute, and maintain system-level, end-to-end, and release test scenarios, balancing exploratory manual testing with a growing level of automation to ensure high confidence in product quality.
  • Develop and evolve automated test suites in Python (e.g. pytest), maintaining and improving the test automation framework and integrating automated tests into CI pipelines as coverage and maturity increase.
  • Prepare, configure, and maintain test environments and physical test rigs, including Linux-based hardware, network devices, and supporting utilities (such as Raspberry Pi-based setups, readers, and locks), enabling reliable and repeatable testing.
  • Perform system-level and hardware-based testing, validating interactions between software, hardware, networking, and external devices in complex, real-world environments.
  • Analyze system logs, traces, and network traffic to isolate faults and identify root causes, and produce high-quality defect reports with clear reproduction steps, analysis, and supporting evidence.
  • Create and maintain test cases, test plans, and documentation in Jira and Confluence, while working closely with developers and the Product Owner to clarify requirements, risks, and acceptance criteria, and continuously improve test processes, tools, and quality practices within the team.

The skills and experience you need

We are looking for someone who has:
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance, with a strong focus on system-level, end-to-end, and exploratory testing in complex technical environments.
  • Solid hands-on experience with test automation, including developing and maintaining automated tests in Python (e.g. pytest), and an interest in gradually increasing automation coverage over time.
  • Experience testing Linux-based systems, with the ability to work comfortably in terminal environments and understand how software behaves at system level.
  • Practical experience with hardware-adjacent or hardware-based testing, including working with physical devices, test setups, or custom test rigs.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience investigating issues through logs, traces, and system behavior, and producing clear, high-quality defect reports.
  • Experience working in cross-functional, agile team environments, collaborating closely with developers and product roles, with fluency in English, spoken and written.

The ideal candidate is curious about how things work end - to - end and enjoys being hands - on rather than working purely at a theoretical level. You are comfortable working in environments where test automation is still evolving and see value in automating once patterns and test needs are understood. Experience with networked devices, IoT or embedded systems, CI pipeline integration, networking concepts, or building custom test rigs is considered a plus, but not a requirement. Most importantly, you take ownership of quality, enjoy problem - solving in complex systems, and are motivated by continuously improving tools, processes, and test practices together with your team.
