Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Digital Key (AUTOSAR Classic / C) IRC307610

Description

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop the vehicle-side CCC Digital Key Release 3 agent running on the T-Box microcontroller in an AUTOSAR Classic environment.

The role focuses on secure vehicle access using smartphones, NFC cards and key fobs over BLE, NFC and UWB. You will develop real-time embedded software responsible for Digital Key session management, secure-element integration, credential provisioning, cryptographic workflows and vehicle diagnostics.

The ideal candidate has strong embedded C programming skills, experience with AUTOSAR Classic and a solid understanding of security-sensitive protocols and real-time software design.

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong experience in embedded C development.
• Hands-on experience with AUTOSAR Classic.
• Strong understanding of state machines, event-driven software and non-blocking programming.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems, scheduling, timers and concurrency management.
• Knowledge of communication protocols and binary message processing.
• Experience with secure-element integration, HSMs or embedded security peripherals.
• Understanding of cryptography, PKI, certificates and key management.
• Experience with embedded debugging, testing and version control.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CCC Digital Key R3 or automotive digital-key systems.
• Familiarity with BLE, NFC, UWB, ISO 7816 and APDU protocols.
• Experience with SPAKE2+, scrypt, LTK management or certificate provisioning.
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR NvM, RTE integration and UDS diagnostics.
• Familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434, MISRA C, static analysis and automotive cybersecurity practices.
• Experience with HIL testing and automotive ECU integration.

Job responsibilities

Digital Key Flow Engine

• Design and implement a table-driven flow engine supporting 20+ Digital Key flow types.
• Develop trigger-driven event processing, TTL timers and explicit non-blocking state machines.
• Support concurrent sessions with secure-element arbitration and resource management.
• Ensure deterministic execution within a 10 ms runnable budget.
• Implement timeout handling, retries, error recovery and session lifecycle management.

Security and Credential Management

• Implement the ISO 7816 APDU communication layer.
• Develop on-device LTK generation and Certificate Signing Request (CSR) workflows.
• Implement certificate provisioning and storage for root, intermediate and attestation certificates.
• Integrate SPAKE2+ and scrypt-based security configuration, including lockout and recovery mechanisms.
• Integrate the secure-element Complex Device Driver (CDD).
• Apply secure coding practices and protect cryptographic material throughout its lifecycle.

AUTOSAR Classic Integration

• Integrate software components through AUTOSAR RTE ports and interfaces.
• Implement versioned persistent key-state management using NvM.
• Integrate with IVI and cloud-facing software components.
• Implement the UDS diagnostic interface, including diagnostic services, error reporting and recovery.
• Support software integration and validation on target hardware.

Testing and Quality

• Develop unit tests, integration tests and fault-injection scenarios.
• Debug timing, concurrency, protocol and hardware integration issues.
  Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and technical documentation.
  Collaborate with system architects, cybersecurity specialists and cross-functional engineering teams
