Beskrivning
The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 58 000 students and 6800 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
The Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, at the Institute of Medicine, conducts translational research primarily on metabolism, diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease in order to improve health and healthcare in the community. The overall goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of a very high international standard.
The research constellation studies the molecular associations between bowel habits, intestinal symptoms, and mental and physical well-being in individuals with functional gastrointestinal disorders. The current project is focused on crosstalk between the gut microbiota and neuroimmune signalling in the intestinal mucosa.
You will work in a multidisciplinary, translational research environment, located within a leading international centre for research into functional bowel diseases and the gut microbiome. The research will be performed in close collaboration with colleagues with expertise in clinical research and molecular biology.
Duties
You will be working with bioinformatic analysis of data from both large and small clinical cohorts, including metagenomics, metabolomics and advanced transcriptomic analysis of tissue from colonic biopsies (bulk, single-cell and spatial RNA-seq).
Qualifications
Required qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree and have at least four years of experience working in the field of bioinformatics.
Meritorious qualifications
Prior experience in the analysis of metagenomic data, as well as research related to gastrointestinal physiology and pathophysiology, is considered meritorious. Furthermore, experience with spatial and single-cell RNA sequencing is regarded as an advantage. Good knowledge of programming in Python, R, and command-line/shell scripting is also considered an asset, as is experience of working in both multidisciplinary and international research environments, with English as the working language.
