Want to join a team with a mission to improve and save lives?

We continually look for motivated and skilled individuals who are interested in supporting our customers - healthcare professionals who use our products to help patients and their communities.

We currently have the following opportunity available - please contact us for more details!

We don't just build technology. We build hope for everyone dealing with cancer.

At Elekta, you will make a difference. We are seeking a Lead Electronics Engineer for our team developing the Control System for the Leksell Gamma Knife within the Neuro Solutions Business Line.

The Control System for the Leksell Gamma Knife manages accurate and safe delivery of radiation treatment to patients. It spans from the operator's user interface to the subsystems that drive the real-time embedded and mechatronic components. It controls operator workflows, treatment targeting, imaging, safety functions and communication. You'll work hands-on with both new development and maintenance of a safety-critical system in a regulated Medtech environment.

You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers, working in our beautiful new office at "Forskaren" in Stockholm city.

What you'll work on

You'll join a cross-functional engineering team and collaborate closely with system, software, mechanical, production, procurement, quality, and service functions. We value collaboration, open communication and a supportive environment where everyone's ideas are heard. Your work will have a direct impact on patient treatment and the long-term evolution of the Leksell Gamma Knife.

As a Lead Electronics Engineer, and in collaboration with the electronics team, you will:
  • Lead the electronics development for the Leksell Gamma Knife by shaping technical direction, enabling informed decisions, and collaborating closely with specialists across disciplines.
  • Guide the electronic system design to ensure the architecture meets technical, regulatory, safety and EMC requirements.
  • Advance improvements to make the product safer, more reliable, more cost-effective, and more maintainable.
  • Address obsolescence and product maintenance topics as well as support complaint investigations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across R&D, production, service, quality, supply chain and external partners to secure robust solutions.
  • Support colleagues through mentorship, technical reviews and knowledge-sharing.
  • Ensure electrical designs and specifications are up to date and compliant with internal and external standards.
  • Provide senior expertise within electronics, contribute to system development and testing, and guide others in lab work and troubleshooting.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future electronics platform for upcoming product generations.

Who you are

This is a senior technical role for an engineer with strong domain knowledge, broad system understanding, and the ability to lead electronics design across the full lifecycle. You will influence the product, the architecture, and ways of working - while being part of a team that supports each other and collaborates closely across disciplines.

We think you'll thrive if you:
  • Have deep experience in electronic system design and enjoy combining system-level thinking with detailed engineering work.
  • Like working in a hands-on environment, from concept design to measurements, prototyping, troubleshooting and verification.
  • Appreciate cross-functional collaboration and want to work closely with specialists across software, mechanics, supply chain, quality, and service.
  • Are comfortable with responsibility, balancing technical, regulatory, and business considerations.
  • Want to work in a regulated Medtech environment to do meaningful work that improves patient treatment.

We expect that you have:
  • M.Sc. in Electronics, Mechatronics or similar and at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in electrical system design.
  • Experience working with analog and digital design, schematics, EMC, and electrical safety.
  • Hands-on lab skills, measurement experience and confidence working with prototypes and equipment.
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Valid work permit for Sweden.

Prior experience of VHDL, power electronics and working with medical device development is an advantage but not required. If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply. We recognize that strong candidates bring different strengths, and there is room to shape the role depending on your experience, as long as core requirements are met.

Hiring process

We are looking forward to hearing from you! Apply by submitting your application and résumé in English, via the "Apply" button. Please note that we do not accept applications by e-mail.
