Summary of Duties

The Embassy of Canada To Sweden, in Stockholm is seeking to fill an Officer position for the Export Development Canada (EDC) program. Under the supervision of EDC's Chief Representative and with a measure of independent judgment and action, the EDC Officer: promotes EDC's financial capabilities to companies in the region interested in procuring goods and services from Canada; advises EDC clients and Canadian companies on business opportunities in the regional market; supports logistical arrangements for incoming visits or events; undertakes administrative tasks to support the operations of EDC's representation as well as the Chief Representative; prepares the annual budget; provides strategic market intelligence via research reports, market studies and statistical summaries related to opportunities, changes in rules and regulations and challenges for EDC financing and insurance businesses; acts as a liaison between EDC's Stockholm representation office and Ottawa-based colleagues, and clients, as requested; replies to written and telephone inquiries from EDC internal and external clients, local importers and potential borrowers; and performs other duties and services of the EDC Stockholm representation office as required.

Area of Selection

Essential Qualifications

Education

A university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., business, finance, international relations, economics, political science, marketing), OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience: minimum 2 years of post-secondary studies plus at least 3 years of relevant professional experience within the last 7 years.

Proof of education will be required.

Languages

Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Advanced proficiency in Swedish (written and spoken)

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in international trade finance, corporate banking, international business development, or a closely related field.

Competencies

Knowledge of trade finance instruments, international finance, and Swedish/global business environments

Understanding of Canadian export and investment opportunities in Sweden

Strong research and analytical skills, including gathering and interpreting market intelligence

Strategic thinking and sound decision-making

Effective written and oral communication

Organizational skills, including event planning and coordination of marketing initiatives

Networking and relationship-building abilities in Sweden

Client orientation, teamwork, and collaborative leadership

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and online research tools

Asset Qualifications

Intermediate proficiency in French

Knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles

Operational Requirements

Standard work schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on-site in Stockholm

Willingness to work overtime with short notice

Availability for occasional domestic and/or international travel

Conditions of Employment

Valid authorization to work in Sweden for the duration of employment

Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status (security clearance, including background checks)
