Business Controller/Senior Business Controller, Schibsted Media - Subscription Forecasting & Modelling
We are now looking for a Business Controller to take a key role in developing and owning our subscription revenue forecasting capabilities.
Schibsted is a leading digital media group in Scandinavia with a broad portfolio of brands such as VG, Aftenposten, E24, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad, Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, TV4, MTV and Podme. Our publications are renowned for their exceptional journalism, high editorial independence and strong digital development. Every day we inform, entertain and engage millions of people in Sweden, Norway and Finland - and strengthen our democracies through independent journalism.
Subscription revenue is Schibsted News Media's most important revenue stream, and we are now strengthening our finance team with a dedicated role focused on forecasting and modelling. This is a unique opportunity to help shape how we understand and project our subscription business across Norway and Sweden.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of Finance, Data, and Business - combining financial understanding with data-driven modelling. You will collaborate closely with our Data & Insight teams, who provide access to rich subscription data, while Finance owns the forecasting logic and delivers business-critical insights.
Key responsibilities
Forecasting & modelling (core focus)
Own and develop a driver-based subscription revenue forecasting model across brands and markets
Translate business drivers (acquisition, retention, ARPU, cohorts) into robust and scalable models
Continuously improve model accuracy by incorporating new data, insights, and business understanding
Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning
Ensure the model is transparent, well-structured, and trusted across stakeholders
Financial processes and reporting
Drive and deliver forecasting, reporting, and long-term planning
Ensure high-quality financial insights and decision support to management
Improve and automate forecasting and reporting processes where relevant
Business partnering
Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across Finance, Product, and Commercial teams
Collaborate closely with Data & Insight teams to leverage data effectively
Support business cases and strategic initiatives with robust financial analysis
Identify key drivers, risks, and opportunities in the subscription business
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a profile that combines strong financial understanding with a data-driven and analytical mindset.
This is not a traditional controlling role - you should be motivated by building models, working with data, and translating complexity into clear insights.
You likely have
A higher education degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field
3-7 years of experience in business controlling, analytics, consulting, or similar roles
Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
Have experience working with data tools (e.g. SQL, Python, or similar) and AI agents (e.g Claude, Cortex, or similar)
Experience with driver-based models and/or subscription business models is a strong advantage
Solid understanding of business drivers such as growth, churn, and pricing
Strong communication skills in both English and a Scandinavian language
In addition, it is an advantage if you:
Are comfortable working with large datasets and collaborating with data teams
Have experience with cohort analysis or similar modelling approaches
Personal qualities
Structured and curious, with a strong drive to improve and build
Comfortable working in the intersection between finance and data
Able to simplify complex topics and communicate clearly to stakeholders
Proactive and hands-on, with a strong sense of ownership
What we offer
A key role in shaping how we forecast and understand our most important revenue stream
The opportunity to work at the intersection of Finance and Data in a modern, data-driven organisation
Close collaboration with highly skilled colleagues across Finance, Product, and Data & Insight teams
A dynamic and collaborative environment with strong opportunities for learning and development
Competitive terms and attractive employee benefits
Modern offices in central Oslo or Stockholm
