We are looking for a Balance Settlement Specialist to join our Balance Settlement team in Solna, Sweden.
About the Role
The Balance Settlement team serves as a key link connecting electricity production, physical electricity trading, and financial reporting. Our primary responsibility is managing imbalance settlement for the Balance Responsible Party (BRP) role at Fortum in the Nordics. Our team supports both Physical trading and our B2B business.
As a Balance Settlement Specialist, you will be responsible for various daily operational tasks, ensuring accurate data reconciliation for production and consumption trading across multiple countries. You will play a vital role in identifying discrepancies, reviewing production and consumption data, and verifying trading data with external sources like Nord Pool and ESETT.
You will be part of a highly skilled Balance Settlement team with the opportunity to take ownership of key areas and contribute to the strategic development of our processes, solutions, and ways of working. Your expertise and operational insight will help shape how our division evolves, supports business priorities, and responds to a changing Nordic energy market.
As a trusted expert, you will play an important role in supporting strategic business initiatives and customer-related cases, providing insights and expertise that help drive informed decisions and long-term value creation.
This role also involves close collaboration with internal and external partners to drive improvements with a real business impact.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in the energy sector, numbers, and the development of how data is used to improve processes and create business value. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team spread across locations in the Nordics.
In order to succeed in this position, you will have:
- Relevant university level degree (or equivalent in experience)
- Work experience from the energy industry with physical trading, balance settlement and/or back office tasks experience is a plus
- Strong Excel and other computer software skills, such as Power BI. Knowledge to ready EDM system is an advance.
- Ability to communicate with several stakeholders and handle a variety of different topics during your work day
- Ability to be self-driven and organized in your work
- Fluency in English
- Fluency in spoken Swedish is mandatory for the position holder to effectively collaborate with the team and engage with the local TSO and comply with legislation
Your daily tasks will require a strong attention to detail and an ability to work with numbers systematically. You should also be motivated to contribute to process improvements within the team. Familiarity with the Nordic energy system and/or different balance settlement vendors is a plus.
