On behalf of a municipality in Vestland County, we are recruiting a family medicine specialist for a permanent position in a modern and well-established GP practice.

This is an opportunity to join a supportive professional environment where quality of care, collaboration, and continuity for patients are highly valued. The practice is located in a scenic area of Western Norway, surrounded by mountains, lakes, and fjords, with easy access to both outdoor activities and urban amenities.

About the position

You will join a GP practice consisting of three experienced GPs and one resident doctor. The available patient list currently includes approximately 800 patients, with the possibility of gradually increasing the list size if desired.

The municipality places great emphasis on creating a positive working environment and maintaining a strong professional community with skilled colleagues and experienced support staff.

The position includes:

Responsibility for your own patient list

Diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up of patients of all ages

Preventive healthcare and chronic disease management

Up to 20% municipal medical duties

Participation in an organised out-of-hours emergency service rotation

Emergency care services

The municipality participates in an intermunicipal emergency care collaboration involving five municipalities. The emergency clinic is located next to the local hospital and operates from dedicated facilities.

The service includes responsibility for:

Out-of-hours emergency care

Municipal acute care beds (KAD)

Emergency medical communication centre

The clinic is staffed by qualified healthcare personnel around the clock, providing a well-supported working environment during emergency shifts.

About the area

The position is located in a municipality in Vestland County, one of Norway's most spectacular regions. The area is known for its fjords, mountains, glaciers, and excellent opportunities for hiking, skiing, cycling, and fishing.

The community offers schools, cultural activities, sports facilities, and a wide range of local services. The location also provides good transport connections to larger towns and cities in Western Norway.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who:

Are specialists in family medicine / general practice (GP)

Hold a valid medical licence and specialist recognition from an EU/EEA country

Have good English language skills

Are motivated to learn Norwegian

Have good communication and collaboration skills

Wish to establish a long-term career and life in Norway
