Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden. Internal applicants from TRATON Group R&D are prioritized for this position. Candidates from the broader TRATON Group (including brands) are welcome to apply and may be reviewed based on business needs.
You will design and/or procure test equipment for truck components, ranging from individual parts to complete vehicles in our advanced test rigs.
The work is highly varied, as each test rig is unique and designed specifically for the customer's needs. You will work in cross functional project teams involving three other groups within the section, as well as colleagues across the TRATON organization. The role offers a broad network and the opportunity to influence the full development chain.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute to the development of advanced test equipment and mechanical solutions that support TRATON's product development and verification activities. You will work closely with cross functional teams and collaborate across TRATON brands to design reliable, safe, and efficient test rigs used for evaluating components, systems, and complete vehicles.
You will:
• Develop end to end mechanical and process design solutions for test rigs and test equipment based on customer requirements and technical needs.
• Translate customer demands into engineering concepts, technical specifications, and procurement documentation for internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project teams to design, review, and implement new test solutions that align with TRATON R&D's development processes.
• Support the organization with engineering analysis, contributing to calculations, FEM simulations, and design evaluations to ensure robust and reliable designs.
• Participate in installation, commissioning, and verification of test rigs and test systems together with internal teams and external partners.

Skills & Experience
• Relevant engineering degree, e.g., Mechanical Engineering
• Solid experience in mechanical design
• Broad design experience with responsibility for complete solutions (not only component level work)
• Experience with Inventor or other CAD software
• Basic understanding of machine safety and CE marking
• Strong communication skills in English (Swedish is appreciated but not required)
Beneficial Experience
• Experience working with rigs, frames, fixtures, or test equipment
• Experience or interest in FEM, calculations, and simulations
• Experience with process design

This Is Us
Our team consists of 10 experienced design engineers and two consultants who support each other in daily work. We belong to Investment and Test Rig Development, a respected and knowledgeable section supporting truck development through advanced test rigs. We also develop several in house products, such as fluid condition units, safety systems, and STP.
Within TRATON Group R&D, you will be an important part of a larger ecosystem with insights into the full transportation industry.
