Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Food Scientist to join our Food Research Laboratory. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and validation of innovative UV-based food decontamination technologies by planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting laboratory studies focused on food safety, quality, and shelf-life.
The position involves research on a wide range of food matrices, including fresh produce, dry seeds, grains, and food-grade powders, with emphasis on microbiological safety, physicochemical quality, and sensory properties.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of broad-spectrum UV technology on food products.
Perform microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory analyses to assess food safety and quality.
Optimize and validate treatment conditions for different food materials.
Design experiments and perform statistical analyses to interpret research results.
Develop technical reports and present experimental findings.
Model and evaluate food shelf-life based on microbiological and quality data.
Maintain laboratory documentation and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in research and product development.
Essential Qualifications
MSc or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related discipline.
Strong experience in planning, executing, and reporting microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory analyses for quality assessment of fresh produce, grains, seeds, and food-grade powders.
Experience with experimental design and multivariate statistical analysis.
Knowledge of shelf-life studies and predictive modeling.
3-5 years' experience working in food laboratories operating under ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Strong scientific writing and data interpretation skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Good written and spoken English.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with food preservation or non-thermal processing technologies (UV, light, cold plasma, etc.).
Knowledge of food microbiology, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
Experience using statistical software such as Minitab, R, JMP, or similar.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with excellent teamwork and communication skills.
