Beskrivning

Join us for an exciting and excellent Doctoral student journey to create next-generation technology for augmented audio reality!

About us

The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering tackles contemporary and emerging challenges for the built and natural environment, ranging from resource utilisation, pollution and climate change to digitalisation and inequality. We combine expertise in architecture, civil engineering and related disciplines to build a better world.

Sound and vibration are part of our daily lives. The Division of Applied Acoustics conducts research in audio and acoustics and aims to contribute to sustainable built environments and sustainable infrastructure, as well as to support European industry in the development of products and services with appropriate sound and vibration properties.

About the research project

The position is part of the project WeHear that is funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Commission. The project is a collaboration between several universities and companies and aims at turning smart glasses with built-in microphones and cameras into a next-generation augmented hearing device that adapts the sound scene that the user is exposed to to the user's specific needs. The doctoral student's task will be to contribute and perceptually evaluate signal processing algorithms that manipulate the spatial information that is embedded in the microphone signals. Please note that we have also another opening for a doctoral student position: Doctoral student in acoustic array signal processing.
