Role Summary

This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden

TRATON Group R&D is driving the transformation toward smarter, safer, and more sustainable transport systems. Within the Systems Engineering organization, the EE & Software Process team plays a central role in enabling effective and efficient development of electrical and embedded systems across our brands.

As part of this journey, our agile team EE Analytics, operating within the Vehicle Software Factory Definition (VCT), is growing. We are now looking for a senior Data Architect to shape and drive the architecture of Embedded Software development data across the vehicle lifecycle.

Today, the team mainly works with Power BI and analytics. We are now evolving towards a more scalable data platform where backend architecture, integration across systems, and long-term technical direction become key. In this role, you will take a strategic architectural perspective - helping define how development data is structured, governed, and reused to support performance, traceability, compliance, and continuous improvement across R&D.

This is a great opportunity if you currently work as a senior data engineer or technical specialist and enjoy seeing the "bigger picture" - and want to influence the architectural direction and platform strategy.

Job Responsibilities

As a Data Architect, you will:

  • Define and guide the architectural vision and standards for Embedded Software development data across the vehicle lifecycle
  • Design scalable data models and integration patterns that connect multiple development systems into a coherent foundation
  • Enable structured and decision ready insights related to development speed, quality, compliance, and process adherence
  • Establish clear principles for data ownership, traceability, and single source of truth
  • Act as the technical reference point and mentor within the team, raising architectural maturity and engineering discipline
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, product owners, and stakeholders across VCT and VCF
  • Contribute hands-on when needed to validate architectural decisions and strengthen engineering practices
  • Support the transition of EE Analytics into a mature data platform organization

Who You Are

You are a seasoned data professional with strong architectural thinking and a solid technical foundation. You enjoy diving deep into modeling trade-offs and refining structures until they are robust, scalable, and semantically clear. You are comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels, bringing depth in one or more areas while maintaining a broad understanding across the data and software landscape. In short, a true T-shaped profile.

We believe you have:

  • Strong experience working in data engineering, analytics, or modern data platforms, including architectural or technical lead responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, semantic layers, and integration patterns
  • Experience with cloud-based environments such as AWS, Snowflake, or similar platforms
  • Experience working in software development or engineering driven environments
  • A structured approach to defining data ownership, governance, and architectural principles

It is a strong plus if you bring:

  • Experience with federated data models or data product thinking
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, automotive, or systems engineering contexts
  • Experience discussing technical strategy and architectural choices, while working in cross organizational or multi domain environments
  • A collaborative and supportive way of working with a structured and pragmatic approach
  • Curiosity to challenge ideas and explore new ways of working while collaborating closely with others

You do not need to tick every box - if this role feels like a natural next step, we encourage you to apply.

Experience in the automotive industry is a plus but not required. Fluency in English is necessary; Swedish is not a must.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds - your unique experience and perspectives is valuable to us.
