Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Application Developer to join our automotive OEM Client's engineering team developing next-generation Infotainment and In-Vehicle Experience platforms. The role involves designing, developing, integrating, and optimizing Android-based applications running in an automotive environment, working closely with HMI, system, middleware, and vehicle integration teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on Android development expertise combined with an understanding of Android Automotive OS (AAOS), automotive infotainment systems, embedded platforms, and vehicle-specific requirements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional Android software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Android Framework, Android application architecture, and Android lifecycle.
• Experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) or automotive infotainment development.
• Strong understanding of Android services, IPC, AIDL/Binder, permissions, intents, activities, and background processing.
• Experience with modern Android UI technologies such as Jetpack Compose and/or traditional Android UI frameworks.
• Experience with Git, Gerrit, CI/CD, debugging and profiling tools.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, multithreading, and performance optimization.
• Experience working with embedded Linux/Android platforms.
• Good understanding of system-level debugging using logs, traces, dumps, and profiling tools.

Job responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality Android applications for automotive infotainment systems.
• Develop and integrate applications using Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and the Android framework.
• Work closely with HMI/UX, system architects, middleware, platform, and vehicle integration teams to deliver end-to-end infotainment functionality.
• Develop applications that interact with vehicle services, including climate, media, navigation, connectivity, vehicle status, and other in-car functions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues across the application, Android framework, middleware, and vehicle environment.
• Perform debugging, profiling, performance optimization, and memory/resource analysis on embedded Android platforms.
• Participate in software design, code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.
• Develop robust and maintainable software following automotive development processes and quality standards.
• Support integration and validation activities in SIL/HIL and complete-vehicle environments.
• Investigate complex issues identified during vehicle testing and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes.
• Work with global engineering teams, OEM stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure successful delivery of infotainment features.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, coding practices, and software quality.
