Om jobbet
Role SummaryNote: Internal applicants from TRATON Group R&D in Södertälje are prioritized for this position. Candidates from Scania BID Södertälje, and the broader TRATON Group (including brands) are welcome to apply and may be reviewed based on business needs.
Are you a grounded and engaging leader who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment?
We are now looking for a Unit Head to lead a critical test operations unit within TRATON R&D. The unit plays a key role in enabling development across multiple brands and programs, operating in a high-demand environment with significant technical, financial, and operational responsibility.
This is a role where you combine people leadership with operational ownership. You will lead a team of engineers and mechanics, ensure stable and safe daily operations, and contribute to shaping future test capabilities and capacity.
The organization is undergoing transformation, bringing increased complexity as well as new opportunities. In this context, your ability to create structure, prioritise effectively, and lead with clarity will be key.
Job Responsibilities
As Unit Head, you are responsible for the overall performance of the unit, balancing daily operations with long-term development.
You lead and support the team in their day-to-day work, creating a safe, structured, and high-performing environment. A key part of the role is to establish clear prioritisation, especially in situations where demand exceeds capacity.
You have full operational responsibility for the test facilities, including planning, delivery, and escalation handling. This also includes financial responsibility such as budget ownership, CapEx planning, and ensuring that investments, maintenance, and upgrades are aligned with future needs.
You ensure that operations meet all safety, legal, and environmental requirements.
The role involves close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders across TRATON R&D, including internal customers, global sites, suppliers, and partners. You contribute to alignment across teams and are an active member of the section and domain leadership context.
You also contribute to the development of future test capabilities and capacity, ensuring that the unit can meet both current and future demands.
Who You Are
You are a confident and thoughtful leader who brings structure and clarity to complex environments. You are comfortable operating under pressure and able to prioritise and make decisions when conditions change.
You have experience leading teams in a technical or operational context, with responsibility for delivery, safety, and financial outcomes. You are used to navigating environments with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
You lead with a coaching mindset and build trust through clear communication, consistency, and presence. You are comfortable leading experienced specialists and enabling others to succeed, without needing to be the deepest technical expert yourself.
You communicate fluently in English and Swedish and are comfortable working in an international setting.
We believe you bring experience from areas such as R&D, testing, production, or operations. You have stepped into leadership and developed your ability to lead people, drive results, and handle complexity. This role requires leadership maturity, sound judgement, and the ability to balance operational demands with long-term thinking.
This Is Us
You will lead a team of approximately 5 engineers and 7 mechanics, with a mix of seniority and several highly experienced specialists. The team combines deep technical competence with a strong collaborative mindset.
The work is carried out in a hands-on environment with a strong on-site presence, across multiple test facilities. The setup includes shift and on-call elements, reflecting the critical nature of the operations.
You will be part of a global section within TRATON R&D, working closely with peer Unit Heads and contributing to cross-site collaboration and alignment. The environment is technically advanced, operationally demanding, and characterised by strong ownership and teamwork.
