Role Summary

The Defence Project Office is now looking for dedicated new team members to strengthen our project organisation!

As a Defence Project Manager, you will lead development or business projects depending on your background, experience, and interests. You will support and coach the project members to achieve agreed deliveries and goals, always with customer in focus. You are passionate about cross-functional collaboration and know how to create structure, alignment, and progress in complex project environments. By working closely with the team and stakeholders, you ensure that the project delivers the right activities on time, at the right quality and cost.

Job Responsibilities

As a Defence Project Manager, you will lead and oversee defence projects from early phases to industrialization. You will provide strategic leadership and guidance in complex environments, ensuring successful project outcomes.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Project Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. You are responsible for defining, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with key project steering documents and directives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, partners, and teams, ensuring alignment on common priorities and outcomes.
  • Team Management: Coordinate, coach and support project participants, fostering collaboration and accountability, contributing to a strong and learning project culture.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and financial follow-up to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks that could affect timelines, workload, quality or cost. You discuss potential impacts with the team and ensure that mitigation plans are in place.


Who You Are

To succeed in this role, you are a committed and driven Project Manager who enjoys leading complex initiatives through others. You combine strategic perspective with operational mindset and know how to create progress together with people.

With clear and inclusive leadership, you engage stakeholders and guide the team towards agreed objectives, scope, and deliveries. You provide structure and direction while building commitment and collaboration, even in demanding environments. You are equally comfortable aligning on strategic direction with senior stakeholders as you are supporting the team in day-to-day execution.

We also believe you:

  • Have an Master's degree, preferably in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience from similar professional work
  • Are a good listener and team player who is unpretentious, flexible and structured
  • Can communicate well in English and enjoy working with different people and perspectives
  • Have proven leadership experience

This Is Us

The Defence Project Office is organised into two teams consisting of around 25 people: Delta and Echo. Delta primarily delivers development projects, while Echo is responsible for business projects. However, resources are flexibly allocated across both teams depending on portfolio needs, and you may therefore work with both types of projects.

The organisation includes both employees and consultants, bringing a broad mix of genders, ages, backgrounds, and experiences that strengthens our performance and collaboration. Knowledge sharing and cross-team cooperation are well-established ways of working.

The Defence project portfolio spans tender, business, and development projects delivered to multiple defence forces. Growing demand for on-road and off-road defence vehicles is driving an increase in activity and requires strengthened capacity and capability within these project types.
